Well, I'm off to the competition! I just wanted to say HAPPY VALENTINES DAY FRIENDS!!!! Enjoy this wonderful day!! :)

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!!

Ivy: Have a great time...

Today's workout for me is Maximum Intensity Cardio....

Talk to you later..

Joanne: That is awesome that you purchased STS..I know you won't be sorry!! I don't think the bands are very long...I had another one i got with a DVD I bought and it seemed longer. Of course, that was a pilates workout. So, maybe they are different...

Oh, forgot to mention...I am sore today!!!

Hi All!

Personals from yesterday:

Kathy: Sounds like you are really enjoying the STS leg work :) so all positives from your end eh? Nothing that you found as a negative yet? Just wondering as I really am reading what everyone is saying about STS thus far to make an informed decision if I want it one day of not. Like Joanne I think I'm more interested in the leg work.

Beth
: I tell you I really wish that my family would pick up after themselves as it would make the house so much nicer instead of tripping over somebody's shoes and stubbing my toe :( I always say that if I could I would just shake off all the crap outta here like changing bed sheets. Maybe then this place would be a bit more tidy ~ well I can dream right?

You don't like the Lean phase of CLX? Wow I've read that some are really liking it. Oh no! So sorry about your poor shoulders :( How are they feeling today? Wow I would love to try CLX out if your willing to mail it and on my Scout's honor (Yes I was a Girl Scout Leader for over 7 yrs even sat as Cookie chair for 5 of those 7) I will treasure them and take care of them while they are visiting over here. That would be so cool. Just let me know whenever :)

No snow day eh? Where your boys upset about that? Hey at least they get Monday off for President's Day right?

Joanne
: Did your Friday end out less crazy? Poor Jameson how did he forget his clarinet? I mean they are not small to not be noticed.

I've done the racing off to school to drop off, homework, books, lunches and glasses lol Mom's work is never done eh?

Good thing Caitlyn is on antibiotics poor lil one sending her big hugs~ my son had so many strep throat infections that he finally ended up having his tonsils and adenoids removed as they were harboring the bacteria hmm that was 6 yrs ago and since then he has not gotten really sick - knock on wood.

Wow Good For you ! Increasing weights is always a good sign :D

Wow You bought STS? Man I feel like the only one who hasn't now lol

Chris
: So cute of you getting everyone a Valentine's giftie. I used to do that when my older kids were younger now all they ever want is money ~meh~ Our youngest got Webkinz :D

The plate work in STS has always intrigued me.

Yes I'm getting back into my Cathe's - it's about time since I was on hiatus since the end of last summer - guess I needed it and found variety helped quite a bit. I'm actually looking forward to doing a rotation soon but not ready to give up my kettlebells so I'm learning to integrate it all :)

Ivy I need to do a major overhaul of our pantry and fridge - things are not looking so healthy at all and I'm in need of a serious detox blah

So great for you in doing that for your family.

Zumba!!!

I have been so interested in taking a Zumba class but where I live its nowhere to be found and I was told the dvds are not all that great in comparison to taking a real class. Just viewing the moves and music stirs something in me.

Heather here on the boards here takes a weekly Zumba class at her Y and really loves it

Let us know how you like it when you take they class.

Father / Daughter dances are sweet - for Girl Scouts we used to host them for the Brownies :) very cute.

Hottie Have a safe flight!

Keep up with the low impact as soon you'll be jumping soon once again. Are your feet feeling better now?

I know what you mean about the bed thing what I did was place his pillows length wise to just feel something but after a year of sleeping nightly on my own well I got used to it, so now I have to stay on my side of the bed when I used to sleep right smack in the middle lol

Yesterday turned out to be an unexpected one... never did get to workout as hubby and I ended up going out of town as soon as I got back from dropping the kids off at school.

We ended up where we plan on moving to in about 18 months and I can not wait. There is just so much to do, shops and people and well more culture. ::le sigh::

Came back into town, went grocery shopping then took our 10 yr old to see Coraline. That was a great movie albeit it a little creepy.. its amazing how they made it and it was quite good. It will end up in our dvd movie collection one day fer sure ;) came back home having popcorn and red wine for dinner and played Uno until I conked out like a wino on the couch:eek:. I seriously need to drink tons of water as I feel a bit 'off' today - and that was only after just Two glasses of wine mind you - I'm such a cheap date:eek:

Whew hmmm maybe TMI oh well.

I hope to get LIC in today

Dang was I chatty or what with this post

Hey Girls!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

I debated on my cardio today and ended up doing Cross Train Express: Kickboxing (first time doing the workout... I wanted something different!).. and then added Turbo Jam: 20 minute workout on the end. It was a good substitute for Cardio Kicks, i think. WICKED arm work in the punching drills of CTX.

Ivy: Have fun at the competition!

Kathy: "Enjoy" MIC! That one is KILLER!! Let me know if you get through the blasts at the end of the step!

Vilma: We had a fun V-Day as a family day. All the boys were so excited about their candy hearts. They all vowed to make theirs last as long as mine lasts! We'll see who sticks to THAT! Your day yesterday at your future place of residence sounds very exciting! Did you find a house yet or bid on one? The movies and wine and Uno all sound like a nice fun day!.... Sometimes I try to talk myself out of getting irritated at the clutter when I think about ALL my boys out of the house and how quiet it will be and how much I'll miss the loud/messy days. I know it's hard to imagine, but it will happen one day, I know!

Not such a bad weekend for me this weekend, since DH is off from work, and no "mandatory" cleaning and "extra" worrying when a sitter comes. It's as relaxed as my "working weekends" get!

Good morning friends!! I feel like there's so much to comment on since I disappeared yesterday......

Kathy, thanks for the info on the bands -- I know I should break out the tough ones, but like I said, I'm afraid!!!

Joanne, whooo-hoooo! An STS gal, too. Do you think there's any chance you could start with me next week? I want to start on Sunday (a week from tomorrow). Have you done any 1RM tests? I forgot to tell you guys I've been chunking away at them -- I'm almost done with all I'm doing, but guess what? There are so many shoulder ones and after all that Chalene shoulder work, it's tough to fit them in. Anyway, let me know when you think you'll start.

Vilma, pm me your US mail address and I'll send you clx -- I'm assuming my friend won't want it. I won't be able to mail it until after I'm back from vacation though.

Chris, we don't see a lot of real mountains where we are -- we live in the Santa Cruz "mountains" that are maybe 2000' high. I think our house is at 1200', so across a valley from us there is a higher "mountain". It is really pretty where we live though..... if you want to see pics I can point you at a website.

Oh Vilma, I like the "shaking the sheets" approach to cleaning. A friend of mine wished she could invent a vaccuum that would sort toys -- that always sounded good, too. You know, legos, kinex, etc......

Oh, yeah, my workout this morning..... I did the bootcamp premix from kick max and I can say without any shame that Cathe whupped me this morning -- those blasts all togeter -- whew! I added the leg conditioning drills on at the end. I'm having a hard time finding cardio I'm excited about doing these days -- hoping to go for a run with my friend tomorrow, but we'll see -- I think we don't pace ourselves well together...... and, my running trail is mud, so I'll have to run on the road which is not as nice.....

Have a great day everyone!!!

-Beth

Hey again!

Forgot to mention, not so much DOMS in my lower body today (thankfully! work was killer last week because of it!). I can "feel something" but not moan when you sit on the toilet something.

Hey Beth!: That would be too cool if you and Joanne started STS together! I'm so excited that you guys will be doing it too! can not WAIT to see what you think! And yes! By all means! Give me a website where I can see your "country"!!! .. WOW! I never heard of a "Bootcamp Premix" from KM!! What does it involve? is it all cardio? I was feeling that way about cardio today too. Nothing was exciting me. That's why I mixed it up with new stuff. I was thinking premixes though too. That's what I loved about FF's rotations, she always had some good premixes I had never heard of !

Doing okay today... a lot less stressed... so far!

Good afternoon!

Well, I'm SO tired! I can't believe I've been out since 6:30 am!!! We got home around 1:30pm and decided to do Amazing Step Styles or something like that. I only did 35 mins because DS was getting into everything. Now I'm just going to clean the kitchen and relax the rest of the day. We are going to watch Walle tonight with the kids.

Kathy: Have fun with MIC! It's a tough workout!

Vilma: I'll let you all know how Zumba goes. I also heard the same thing about the DVDs (not as good as the real thing). I'm really glad about starting to try to eat right. Today I went to the Farmers Market and bought lots of fruits for snacking. I just hope I don't go too much over my grocery budget. I bet you are so anxious to move to your new place. I would feel the same too if it were me. I want to see that movie too! Thanks for bringing it up so that I can add it to my netflix while I'm on here :) Enjoy LIC today!!

Chris: Awesome workout combo! Is that the only workout you've tried on the CTX dvds?

Beth: Great workout today!

The competition was great! My DD was on stage and she almost freaked out because she was shy about being on stage in front of lots of people. I don't blame her because I'm the same way, LOL!!! She did great though :) I'm very proud of her. She doesn't want to do it next year though :(.

Well, I'm off to the shower and enjoy the rest of the day. DD just told me she wants to watch Walle now. Have a wonderful day everyone!! Tomorrow is rest day :)

Back..... Hottie, I forgot to comment on your temperature thing -- 50 inside is pretty darn cold -- that place must have no insulation!! I checked my indoor temp this morning when I went to work out and it was about 60.

Chris, the bootcamp premix was (if I remember) the warmup, then the 10 blasts all strung together -- tough! -- I had to pause after 8, and then maybe three punch/kick combos, something like that. Whole thing is about 52 minutes. The thing is, when it ended and she started the stretch, it felt really abrupt to me -- my hr felt like it was still too high to start stretching so that's why I did the leg drills.

Ivy, you've been busy! Hats off to you for exercising after all of that. Fun about the competition!

My drinking rant ::whoops::

Oh My Gosh!

What a waste of a day for me; really what was I thinking last night? I told dh no more red wine for me. :( I just cannot believe how I've felt all day long since I got up. Really I am not a drinker dh laughed that I've been feeling ick all day with just 2 glasses of wine last night ; he's calling me a liteweight even though he agrees that that wine was a bit strong. Well that's fine and dandy, I'll just stick to my very light white wine next time. Funny thing is as I was imbibing last night I didn't feel anything at all - no buzz nothing wow. It was a good tasting wine

We went to a wine store in Raliegh that has all sorts of imported goodness and the one wine that we had last night was recommended as I told the guy at the store that I was looking for a nice semi sweet light red without so much tannins in it as they give me headaches though I love my Merlot I can't drink it as it starts my migraines but this one was so good and fruity but ick. Maybe I feel this way because I really didn't eat well before I had it?

So we now still have this German white wine to try out and I told dh to give my body a rest.

Would you believe I had gotten ready to do LIC and started feeling dizzy so I ended up lying down and just woke up with dh snoring next to me in our bed.

Now its dinner time so I need to start getting the meat ready to put into the dough to fry up I'm making beef empanandas yup not clean eating but what Puerto Rican food is? lol

This is what they are
239955.jpg

and my family has me making these all the time yummy but not good for the waist line reason I need to detox our pantry but how?

I'm also making arroz con gandules : Looks like this
arrozcongandules.jpg

apparently it's Puerto Rico's national dish hahaha well this too I make about twice a week - I seriously need to open up Tosca's Book and start revamping my eating pronto :p

Okay enuf about me now off to read what you guys have posted for personals :D

picture.php

Vilma: YUMMY!!!! Brings back some good memories of my kind of food. This is the reason I had to buy Tosca's book again because I really need to clean up the way we eat around here. Are you Puerto Rican?? I am! I LOVE Puerto Rican food even though it isn't the healthiest, LOL!

Chris I have the CTX series in the original boxed vhs version and I really need to start revisiting these as I used to do these all the time once I stopped doing my Firms.

You always mention that Turbo Jam and I'm always curious about it. Did you say I have to buy an entire kit for these or can I just pick them up singly? I stay clear of ebay since I'm askeered of all the scammers

Your boys are too cute vowing to make them last as long as you do..... so have they stuck with it thus far? My kids would gobble it all up within a day or two as their dad got them fudge shaped hearts and yup its all gone.

I know exactly what you mean about trying not to fuss over it all as one day they'll be gone :( but when I get up in the mornings walking barefoot stubbing my toes well yeah

So happy to hear you are having a stress free day :)

Beth I'll send you a PM with my info once I finish posting this ermmm post :)

LOL I like your friend's vacuum invention that would be verra nice ;)

Nice workout ! I really need to check out those premixes Cathe has in her dvds as they are hidden gems.

The LIS/HIS disc has tons of premixes I think about 11 or 14 I was amazed and lots to work with . I know I'll be doing some of those esp the circuit ones ;)

Ivy enjoy the rest of your day we have Wall-E here and I am such a chump I cry over it

Is your dd is a dance group? Good for her for doing her thing on stage but who knows maybe she'll feel different about doing it again next year.

I went back onto the Zumba site and checked to see if they are now offering it in my area and YES they are but it's only one gal and only at the Y and Gold's Gym both of which I am not a member . I plan to phone her and see if I can just try it out and pay as I go or if its only for members of those facilities.

Joanne Hope your having a great day!

Vilma: That would be great if they let you try a class for free to check it out. We watched Walle and it was very nice cartoon. I got all sad in there too. Such a cute cartoon. My DD is in Odyssey of the Mind program in school where they have to invent things without the help of ANY adult. It's pretty cool

aahhh.. The house is all quite. DH took the kids to the store to buy the lottery ticket, LOL!! He thinks we might win. :)

Ivy hey you posted as I made my other post .

¡Que Chévere! Yuppers Soy Boriqua :D

Well 2nd generation as I was born in NYC but my parents are from Mayaguez and Bayamon :)

My first language was Spanish and I had to learn how to speak English when I started school but now I rarely speak it except when I speak to my mom and MIL. My hubby is also Puerto Rican but doesn't speak or understand a lick of Spanish and our poor kids don't either :( even though I tried to teach them and when they were babies they spoke a bit but hated taking Spanish in school :( well my older two anyways.

Yup I cook this way most of the time as my husband had been bugging the heck out of me to cook this way - my family has revolted against my clean eating menus  esp when I went up to NYC to spend time with my dad before he passed away in 2005. I make rice and beans in some form or another just about every other day and I get bored with it but that's all they want to eat.

Reason why I started rereading Tosco's book again seems I'll be needing to start making two menus  I seriously need to detox over here as Puerto Rican food is not the cleanest at all and at my age it's starting to sneakingly show up lately

¡Hasta Luego Amiga!

I need to go cook now :)

Hey guys,

Just a quick fly by -- great job on all the workouts -- i've just been eating and running around with my nieces. We went bowling and I actually got a strike! But i have to mention this because this may involve me getting into trouble with the police. My husband took out the digital camera out of my suitcase and didn't put it back...so I may kill him if I lose a chance to get a picture with Cathe. So, just warning you I may be put on trial for murder. Just warning. ;)

Vilma, I really meant to comment on the "popcorn and red wine dinner"!!! I definitely would have felt the effects of that -- popcorn makes me crazy thirsty, and the wine is dehydrating, too.... I would have had a miserable night's sleep! Today's food looks much better! :D

.....I am baking chocolate chip cookies as I type this......

Cool!! Awesome! I never knew you were PR!! My kids don't speak spanish either. I've been talking to them in Spanish but they choose English. But, it's because they are sorounded my english and I understand because I speak more english then spanish anyways. I have family that are from Bayamon. Everyone here wants to keep eating PR food too and I want use to eat better. I told DH that I hope he doesn't think I'm cooking 2 dinners each night, lol. If I have to and there isn't any other choice then I will. But, I really would LOVE for my kids to just learn to eat better now that they are small. We'll see how it goes. I will start this eating better thing on Monday and Fri and Sat we get to eat anything we'd like. I told DH my body isn't accepting all this junk food like before. I could eat anything and as much as I'd like without gaining a lb and now I do gain if I don't eat right. Enjoy your day today!

Adios! :)
