Fatty Layer

hello everyone and cathe:) i have been keeping myself in great shape since 7th grade but i still have this layer of fat over my stomach! i know you cant spot condition fat etc etc... but is there like a special exercise or diet that might promote loss of fat in the stomach? i heard drinking fat free milk helps, ive been doing that but im not seeing any change. thanx alot:)

Being an apple I have the same issue. I recently read in a couple of places that a reduced carb diet tends to burn more abdominal fat. I don't necessarily like that type of eating the best so I was sort of dissappointed to read it really. :-rollen

We have many on this forum far more educated in these matters than I am who I am sure can chime in on as to if this is fact or fiction. If it's fact I'd go for it.

While you can't spot remove fat, you can target the muscles in a certain area. Consider Pilates which works the core muscles. The focus is much deeper than traditional ab work which tends to work the muscles closest to the skin. I know many new moms who claim nothing worked on their abs till they found Pilates.

If your total body fat is already low, you might not ever have the abs you want. All we can do is make the best of what we're born with.

I too am an apple, darn it! VERY hard to move the fat around the middle once it's there. I have heard, from Cathe & others, that the best way to lean out whatever fat you have is to eat clean (naturally) & to...I hate saying it...run! :-tired
From what I've observed, it's probably true. I am gritting my teeth & working my way up to running as we speak.
I'll let you know if it makes any difference, but could be awhile of course. Good luck with whatever you try!
