Drill Max

I saw the preview on the site for Drill Max, and I think just by looking at it is that it is one of the most intense videos Cathe has ever made, Cardo Kicks being another one. I have never seen Cathe and her crew sweat so intensely in that DVD. When they were doing the rear delts exercise on the stability ball, I knew they were working hard because I have never seen so much sweat dripping down their arms as I did in that video. Jai was soaking wet in that scene. I had never seen Jai sweat that much before. It ranked right up there with Rhonda's sweaty moment in Cardio Kicks (up until that point I had never seen Rhonda sweat that much until that video). To see Jai glisten with sweat like that inspired me to purchase that DVD. She must have really worked! Anyone agree or disagree?

I think Imax 3 and Imax 1 are the most intense. I love Drill Max, it's intense but fun. The "blast" sections aren't as high impact as the imaxes but they're longer. It's a whole different type of workout then any of Cathe's others, IMO. It will definately make you sweat but I think part of the sweat factor for Cathe and crew is the temperature of the set. It gets really hot. I noticed Jai was just soaked in Low Impact Circuit too. What gets me is that they are able to sweat like crazy and still have pretty hair and makeup!

And keep in mind that in some cases it takes ALL DAY to film a workout. In some of those scenes, they may have been working out for hours already.

I agree that DM is like no other workout. The blasts are hard, but they are only part of the overall workout, so it's very do-able.

I agree with the other posters here. Filming is an all day experience, and I am sure it got very warm in that studio.

DM is an advanced workout, but is not as booty-whuppin' as BM and BM2, which I think are the hardest workouts if done in their entirety. DM is a different type of workout, imo, than anything Cathe has done before. Definitely a must have, though, as I find it is really growing on me!

Also remember that very fit people also begin to sweat sooner than unfit folks, because their body cooling mechanisms become more efficient (sweating = cooling).

I have to say I didn't notice anyone sweating because I was too busy trying to suck in the oxygen. I just finished the 63 minute cardio pre-mix. You do each of the blasts twice and by the end I was panting like I haven't in a long time. Intense is not the word. Pretty amazing and I have to say I was kind of proud of myself for surviving the entire workout. I just love pre-mixes!

This is a sweat fest but I find it more steady state sweat versus any of the Imax's. I LUV DM!!!

Cheryl - I did the Cardio Blast premix the other night too, and it was awesome! I was drenched by the end.

BTW, does anyone else do this on an 8" step?

I am dying to try this workout, but the high impact is intimidating to me since I have heel spurs now. Can any of the bouncing be modified and still get a good workout?

Yes, I find this work-out very modifiable. Some days I modify it a lot, some days I go all out, it just depends on how my feet feel. The hardest ones for modification are drill 5 and 6, but if you think about moving your big muscles without a bounce, you will work hard.

Thanks for your advice. May I ask what modifications you use? Do you do more squats then bouncing or hopping? I haven't previewed this one in awhile and forget what the cardio sections consist of.

I decided to go ahead and try DM on Sunday. I finally got my custom orthotics late last week, and my podiatrist said I could try regular exercise once I had those. It went pretty well, I am happy to say. I did ice my feet afterwards, but no real pain since then. And that workout is killer! I loved it and the fun I had finally being able to bounce around again was terrific. I think this workout is really challenging and will do a lot to test and improve my endurance. I have a hard time with those divebomber push ups and the push ups on the ball, but everything else was pretty doable. The cardio sections are fun, and really tough to keep at such a high intensity. For some reason, drill #2 was particularly tough for me. And the one with the stability ball and you hold it in front of you. This workout should be called "Shoulder Max," because my shoulders are still feeling it today! I look forward to doing DM again soon.
