Dogtobirds, How is Gizmo doing?

Hi there,

Just wondering how Gizmo is doing. Seems he's part of this forum family now.

My heart goes out to that little guy, I wish all the best for him. I see that everytime you put up a picture of him, he has changed. His ear is normal, he is bigger, and most of all the animals get along.

Give him a hug for me. And hugs to you too, for being such a great Momma.

Take care,
Janie

Hey Janie!

Thanks for asking about him. We just dropped him off at the boarding facility next to our vet, as we're going out of town tomorrow to my Dad's (unfortunately not a fun trip, but a necessary one as his wife is quite ill with Alzheimer's - but that's another story!). I was so sad dropping him off. I'm sad that he'll be sitting in a big, cold kennel all alone. :( Did you happen to see the update the other day about his broken jaw surgery? I don't know how to link you to it, but right now it's on page 3 and called Gizmo's Broken Jaw Update.

Thanks so much for asking. He woke up yesterday full of energy. You wouldn't know he just had surgery. His abuser may have broken Gizmo's jaw, but he didn't break his spirit. He's an AMAZING dog!!!

Gosh - thanks Christine. I don't know how you couldn't fall in love with him. I told the people at the boarding facility that anyone can take him home at night if they'd like and that he likes to sleep in the bed. You know, just in case. :)

Hi Susan,

Sorry for a late answer, our computer was out for a short time.

If I lived near you, I would board him free, and let him sleep with me at nights. Poor little guy.

Yes, I try to keep up with Gizmo as often as I can. He such a trooper.

My Mom has Alzheimer's and most likely towards the end of it. I hate that it robbed her of her later years. She had nine of us, and she deserved the last half of life to have fun and no responsibility. Life can be so unfair. It's really hard though on the ones taking care of her. But like you said, it's another story.

Hey Janie!

I called yesterday (Friday) and checked on Gizmo, as he had a vet appointment. They said he is doing GREAT and may get to have his tape taken off next Friday. I have to drop him off Friday morning on the way to work and they want to keep him for the day. I'm so excited!

I do wish you lived close because you would have been a great place for him to stay. He would have loved you, I just know it. He is a great little sleeper. You hardly know he's there. :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. I can't even imagine it being someone that close to me. I wish you the best with her. I didn't meet my Dad until I was 30 (thanks to my Mom's bitterness) and I'm 43 now and although he and I are very close - he's a great man, I never got that close to his wife, as she's suffered with this disease for a lot of that time. But I do know that she must have been pretty special because he loves her SO much.

Take care,

Susan
