There has been a very interesting discussion on another forum that is about heart monitor training, so I decided to dust mine off, and find out my Max HR.

So this am, I did a series of hill repeats wearing the monitor and came up with a figure of 212 beats ---does that seem realitstic?

I have been running for about a yr, have done a couple of 10k's, 5k's and one half marathon. I workout 6 days a week, and have for about 3yrs (if any of that matters!!)

Thanks for any help

Jayne....I am for sure NO expert although I have used a HR monitor for about 10 years. 212 does sound a bit high. How old are you? I am 45 and have figured mine about 180-183. I have never seen it above that in some of the hilly running races I have done. But I have seen my monitor get up about 190 or so doing Step, so that does make me wonder about the accuracy sometimes! I know you can figure it by 220 minus your age, but I know there is another way having to do with your resting Heart Rate. If you are interested I'll see if I have that info....:)...Carole
