saying. I have repeated quite a few from you gals, especially the Elanor Roosevelt one about making mistakes, to my sons. Imagine my surprise when I heard my son saying it to one of his friends! So what is/are your favorite pearls of wisdom? Thanks!

Two often repeated sayings in our household are:

*Remember, when you kick dirt on someone else, you always get a little on yourself too.

*Failure is not falling down, it is refusing to get up.

Tammy

Great thread idea!

I tell my boy:

* Nobody's perfect. It's okay to make mistakes. The important thing is you learn from them.
* Be careful what you wish for...
* Keep trying. You fail only when you stop.

i like to find good quotes by other women, whether i find them in a book or on a deck of cards("WILD WOMAN" found at Target). a couple of my favs are,

"Live each moment as if your hair is on fire" * Suzannah B. Troy
"I never practice, I always play" * Wanda Landowska
""When I think about my life, I am sure I will not arrive at an old age. But I would rather sing one day as a lion than a hundred years as a sheep" * Cecelia Bartoli

I love reading some of the quotes you ladies write!

Some of my favorites:

The past does not equal the future.

In any moment, I can change my entire life by making a new decision.

Life is a game, play it with passion.

- There are no problems, only solutions.

- Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I have others but can't think of them now.

I am going to slide up in there and put my thing down and when I come back out I want some real answers.

I can spot bulls&%t from a blimp in a fogstorm.

My current favorite is that you only get one body to last you your whole lifetime.

On a slightly different subject, my current favorite insult is "she's dumber than a bag of hair". }(

amyg, that's funny. My husband says, "dumber than a box of rocks",

I tell my kids, "that's life in the big city" all the time. I swore I wouldn't because my mom would always say that to us. I say it when things don't go their way or they can't have a particular thing. I also like "tough luck", but I don't use that one to often because they are young, and it sounds a little harsh. When they are teenagers I am sure I will be spewing that out of my mouth all the time!

I love the one from Eleanor Roosevelt too. It's so true.

My favorite one to help people who feel bad after overdoing something:

You can't know what "enough" is until you've had "too much".

This one is from my DH who also gave me the Eleanor Roosevelt one:

"You'll never know what's around the corner if don't walk to the end of the block" - Nancy's DH
