Cleveland American Idol concert

My impressions:

Good show, glad I went. I followed these people for months, and felt I got to "know" them through their journey to the stage that night. There were 9 performers with Kathyrn McPhee sitting it out because of throat ailments. That being said, I did not miss her at all! Mandisa, Paris, Lisa, Kelly, Ace, Chris, Elliott, Bucky and Taylor were there, and they all did a good job - very polished and professional, except for Kelly's chatter, which I know was expected of her.

Lisa got virtually no audience response when she first came out, mainly 'cause we had little experience with her on the show since she was the first one of the top 10 to get voted off. However, she won everyone over with her songs - she played a keyboard, too.

I won't go over the entire program, but will say that I was really impressed with Elliott - hasn't he come a long way! - and Ace, who was better than I expected.

As for Mandisa, while she was singing, I realized that SHE was the top female of the bunch, and not Kathryn, IMO. Too bad she got voted off so early. She's sings like crazy and she's much more likeable.

Your impressions, Mama D? We saw her bunch at a restaurant before the show!

Oh, glad to hear a good report!!!
As you probably know, I can't wait to see Chris!!! How was he??? Did he get a lot of stage time? Did the crowd go wild? I know I will!!!

I'm with you Sara... how was Chris????????

Can't get enough of him. Yes no clue how Catherine made it to the top...

Chris was "Chris," about what you would expect. He and Taylor were the really experienced performers, so what you saw on TV is what you got when they were on stage. He DID get a big response - all the guys did, but you must realize that the audience was 90% female teeny-boppers!

Chris played a guitar, and did especially well in the duets and group numbers. Like I said, they ALL were very impressive. I was very pleased overall.

Hey HB! It was a great nite! We are glad we went and even my 80 & 84 year old in-laws loved the evening...they didn't NEED their hearing aids! Ha! My ears were ringing for hours after. The place came unglued when Chris & Taylor came out separately. I soo agree that Mandisa has an awesome voice and it was a shame she was not higher up but I also think each & every one of the ten finalist is sooo talented. We thought lil' Lisa was one of the best in the beginning and were so disappointed when she got voted off so early. She can really play the keyboard..I enjoyed that alot! Elliot has come a long, long way and shows incredible talent...his Mom has to be beaming! I think one of my fav hi-lights was the song Elliot & Chris sang together...beautiful! I was cracking up at Taylor with his suit jacket and tennies on! He sure knows how to perform for an audience and is just a natural up on stage. Ace really outdid himself...I have always liked his singing but my DH was just so-so but was truly impressed with him that nite..he has grown a lot too! Again, GREAT NIGHT..I am so glad we got to go. Would would ever guess with all the restaurants in Cleveland that we'd end up at the SAME one right before the concert? :) (Your salad looked GREAT! :7)
