CHECK-IN for week of 4-1-01

DebbieH

Cathlete
Good Morning everyone! Whew, I'm trying to get my peepers open. :-sleepy. Got to bed LATE, plus the time change and then woke up at 4:00 A.M. and could not go back to sleep. Grrrr! I've HAD better mornings! Okay, enough pity-party here:

Here's my week: (I JUST know someone else is going to post at the same time. Hopefully, if it happens, we can combine.)

Monday~Practiced all my Hi/Lo routines for my new session that starts tomorrow! YIKES!! Wish me luck. Mindy's Extreme Intervals-whew, fast footwork. Thought my legs were going to tangle on a couple of those intervals!!

Tuesday~Practiced Again! CTX-LL, Spin w/Jay for 45 minutes, ABS, CD/Stretch from LL

Wednesday~Practiced (I THINK I KNOW THEM ALL!! :-jumpy, Spin w/Mindy for 45 minutes

Thursday~Practiced routines, IMax!! I am getting better at all these Intervals. I can see improvements!!

Friday~Practiced, (of course), Power Circuit, LOVE this tape, it's been awhile since I put it in my rotation, Precision Toning (Pilates)1st. time to do this tape. It was really good. Had some problems with balance on a couple of poses, but Jennifer says that's normal. She said I'll have it after 5 tries, so we'll see!!!

Saturday~Practiced routines, 45 minute spin w/Jay, 10 minute AB work from PowerBar workout(thanks Erica!!) 1st. time to try this tape. I just viewed the strength work and it looks like a great tape.

Sunday~REST :9!! Not really, I have another shower for my daughter but this time, I'm not the hostess! I get to go sit & have fun with everyone. I'm still nursing my elbow, so no upper body work again. I am giving it this week & if there is no BIG improvement, I guess I will drag this bod to the Dr. :-( HOPE NOT!! Have a great week everyone.

Hi Debbie! So how did the session go?? I'll bet you were awesome! Well, I kinda' took some days off this week. By Tues, I was driving my family nuts with excess energy, but by Thurs. I was settling into to it too much for my liking!! So I picked back up on Fri. I'm doing PS, and now I'm lifting heavier than the last time I did it! I think it was a combo of CTX and the rest days. Ok, here's my short little week!

MON: Yoga

TUES: Yoga and walked a couple miles

WED: Yoga and walked again

Thurs: Yoga

FRI: Yoga, PS BBA, and PowerMax

SAT: Yoga, PS CST, and StepHeat

SUN: Today I'm doing PS SLA and maybe a little yoga.

OK, have a wonderful week everyone!!

Aimee

Hey Yoga-Queen!

Hi guys!
Debbie--Good luck tomorrow with your new routines :-jumpy !!!!! (you probably don't say "break a leg" to an instructor, do you? ;-) )
Aimee--glad to see you rested, and yahoo on lifting heavier :)

Here's my week, starting with Sunday because last week was a bit lame :) :
SUNDAY: Stepworks (35 minutes of it before I went on a three day babysitting thing )
MONDAY: 30 minutes treadmill (no vids while babysitting :-( )
TUESDAY: rest (no time--how do you guys with kids workout???!!!)
WEDNESDAY: PS and BMAX BACK, CHEST, and SHOULDERS, Kari Anderson's United Steps (fun)
THURSDAY: Kickbox combo: wu + KB from 10-10-10, plus all of CTX KB (not wu), + CTX BIS and KB abs
FRIDAY: rest (day trip to visit a wonderful preschool in Tuscon--all day thing)
SATURDAY: Power Circuit, CTX TRIS, 10 min of Leaner LEGS, plus light 2 hour hike in Sedona
SUNDAY: 60 minutes of cardio

As long as I get my cardio in today, I'll have 5 cardio done and each body part for the week. It just didn't flow all that well this week though...

Have a great week, please.
Wendy

RE: Hey Yoga-Queen!

WHOOPS!! I totally misread that:)! LOL!!! Sorry about that! Anyway good luck TOMORROW, I know you'll be awesome!

Always dancing(like your saying!),

Aimee

I am excited about starting a new rotation tomorrow. I am just finishing the fourth week of a CTX rotation. I am a little discouraged and bummed though. :-( For some reason, I have put on a few lbs the last few weeks. For the past five years ( after the 5th was born), I have maintained my weight consistently at 113 - 116 lbs. I did buy a Tanita fat % scale and the % is staying the same ( around 17 %). But after reading a few posts their accuracy is questionable. It is funny, you hear people say when you turn 40 everything changes. I will be 40 this June. I am determined to beat the odds!!

Enough of the bubbling, so anyway I will start a Cathe weight loss rotation posted recently and see if that might shake things up a bit and really focus on clean eating. I do eat pretty healthy with the exception of a cookie and some jelly bean here and there.

Sorry, you all probably didn't want to know all that. I was venting a little I guess.

Debbie - I know I have said this before, but your schedule is amazing. Are you practicing a routine for the classes you teach at the church? You probably live in work-out clothes.

Aimme - I haven't taken a week off before and I know it would be hard for me too. I just like to have a good sweat every morning. I really haven't got into the Yoga too much. I just don't seem to have the time or make the time I guess.

Wendyloo - For me the best time to work out is before the kids are up. So I get up around 4:45 to get a workout in by 6:15. I am a morning person so by 10:30 p.m. I am in bed.

Here was my week:

Monday - 10-10-10 with some ab work
Tues. - Power Circuit
Wed. All Step with double aerobics and some ab work
Thurs. Leaner Legs with 30 minute brisk walk and run on treadmill
Fri. - Kickbox
Sat. - Interval Max with Chest and CD from CTX Step and Intervals.

Have a great week everyone :)

Hey, Lynn--
You know, it could be muscle weight...I'm never sure how much you really do gain when you start to build extra muscle, but the scale says I'm anywhere from 5 to 7 lbs heavier than I was at this time last year, but my clothes are, if anything, looser than they used to be. PLEASE don't count on the scale!!!
What did you you mean when you wrote "with double aerobics" on your Wednesday All Step workout? Did you rewind and do it again??!
Wendy

It was spring break this week, but the weather was gray and miserable here for the most part, but I managed to get outside anyway.

Sunday: canoeing on the Platte River -- 10 miles
Monday: walked around downtown with a friend after dinner
Tuesday: walk/run (3:00/1:00 – 8 cycles); CTX shoulders & chest
Wednesday: hiking, 2.5 miles, about an hour
Thursday: walk/run (3:00/1:00 – 8 cycles); CTX back and biceps
Friday: errands on foot; 10-10-10 warm-up, CTX Kickbox arm drills, PS shoulders, CTX triceps
Saturday: unplanned rest – just didn't feel well

The sun is out today :-cool and it's nice and warm. I am slowly but surely becoming a runner (bought my first pair of genuine running shoes on Friday!). Will probably stick with walking with hubby for today, and some serious stretching if I'm smart. Have no idea what's going on with my body -- just feels like its equilibrium is off.

Back to teaching those kiddies tomorrow. The outdoor center is now closed for remodeling so it's all classroom and day hikes. Looks like the weather will be nice enough to spend most of the day playing wildlife adaptation games in the park. Yeah!

:) Gretchen

I really like the yoga and stretching I have started to do lately....though not very much this week. I noticed that someone has done some Kari Anderson....I must remember to do one of hers this week. She always makes me feel happy. :)

MON......MIS
TUES.....Functionally Fit....I was still tired from yesterday and wanted something shorter and easier....but at least do something.....also Pure and Simple stretch
WED......planned off
THURS...IMAX
FRI.......5004...Step & HiLo....I like this one:)....and Joy of Yoga
SAT.......MIS
SUN......planned off

Everyone seems to be doing great. I feel that even though we don't get in all the weights and aerobics we want to....and I didn't... we are doing something and that is more than a lot of the population.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

Everyone's week sounds great! I love to see how creative some of you get with your workouts. I tend to keep it simple, well....that's just me simple or is that simple minded...anyway, here's my week! LOL

MONDAY: CTX-Chest and Back AND 9801 Step (30 minutes) Love it!

TUESDAY: CTX-Triceps and Biceps AND 9801 Step (30 minutes) AND
Total body Stretch-standing routine

WEDNESDAY: CTX-Shoulder and Leaner legs AND Step Heaven (25 minutes)

THURSDAY: CTX-Chest AND 9801 Step (35 minutes) AND Total body stretch-floor routine

FRIDAY: CTX-Triceps and Back AND 9801-Step

Still trying to adjust to morning workouts. That is why my cardio has been a little shorter than my usual 45 minutes to an hour but I think I am slowly working my way back up. I think I will have to resign myself to doing less strenuous one's on Monday because that is one hard day to get up early and be coherent. I feel like such a slug in the mornings. Oh well, better an exercising slug than a cough potato, huh?

Hope everyone has a wonderful week! Spring is coming, thank goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kelly

Well, considering I had oral surgery last week, my workouts were better than I thought they would be. (But it's lucky they were since my husband made me eat all these chocolate puddings and bowls and bowls of chocolate chip ice cream since I couldn't eat solid food!!!)

Debbie: Funny, I was going to post the first check-in this morning but already saw some of your posts at 4:45 a.m. So I kept waiting for you to post first!!!

Susan: Are you the Susan that was once interested in my TaeBo Volume 5? (or was that someone else?)

Wendy: Glad to see you're feeling better. Your workouts looked good!

Aimee: What kind of yoga are you doing (meaning which tapes)? Also, are you doing yoga FIRST before a workout...or doing the workout and THEN the yoga? Just curious...

Kelly: Keep it up with the morning workouts! They're looking good already....have you noticed that you're much less stress during the day afterwards and have more energy?

If I've missed anyone, sorry! (But I DO read everyone's postings cuz I love to read about your workouts!!!)

Okay, enough babbling...

Monday: Millenium Stretch (only had the surgery like 3 days ago so was a bit nervous to push myself too much)

Tuesday: Step Heat plus Abs

Wednesday: CTX Step & Intervals Cardio/CTX Chest/BM Chest

Thursday: MIS Back/BM Back/CTX Shoulders/BM Shoulders/Abs

Friday: CIA 9907 - Kickboxing (the whole tape!)

Saturday: BM Biceps/CTX Triceps/BM Triceps/BM Abs

Sunday: Woke up with my period and just plain felt like sh**....however, does bowling with my husband and my son count for anything?

This week, I'm flying on Wednesday from NJ to Florida to stay with my parents. I'm hoping to get my butt to the gym there at least twice...but we'll see!

Have a good week everyone!

Terri

Sun. Firm Strength

Mon. Your Personal Best

Tue. Cardio Kicks, what an awesome workout! I am not a kb fan, but LOVED this:)

Wed. SBHT

Thur. Pump Party

Fri. rest

Sat. 30 min. bike ride, easy

This is only the 2nd week of my Firm rotation with subs, but I see no logic to it. I think I'll just play with my new videos and then start a CTX rotation. We'll see!

Andrea

Hey,Dancin'Deb!!

Thanks for starting this thread. Hang in there with that pesky elbow. I am so impressed with the way that something like that doesn't in any way inhibit you from staying on the "fitness track". Have fun being a guest at your daughters baby shower.

Aimee~ Your post really makes me want to consider adding a bit of yoga to my life. Flexability is my greatest weakness.

Wendy~ How nice of you to watch your friends kids ( I'm asuming it's a friend--sure wouldn't be an enemy).Yea, working out with kids is a challenge, but I think that eventually they accept that time is like any other activity. They don't usually bother me when I'm cooking their meals and they KNOW that mom NEEDS her workout and stay out of my way unless it's urgent.

Lynn~ My goodness, you sound plenty lean to me!! Like you, I'm an early bird too. It has become a kind of sacred time for me.

Gretchen~ Wow, what an interesting life you lead. Tell me, when did you begin canoeing? I bet it is great lat work eh?

Susan! You know, don't you, that you are a part of the Fabulous@50 club. It is great to see you added to this thread. Looks like you had a good week!

Kelly~You hang in there with the morning thing girl, it is so worth it! It looks like your know how to be kind to yourself.

MY Week was a blur for me...

monday--PS LEGS&Abs

Tuesday--A.M.5mi.run/ P.M.kickbox

Wednesday--A.M. Powerwalk w/friend + 31/2mi. run and MIS upper body only.

Thursday--A.M. Powerwalk w/friend+4mi. run and Leaner Legs

Friday--A.M.2mi. run w/friend + spin class

Saturday--A.M. 4mi. run w/friend + MIS Upper body.

Have a great week all, will look for all of you at Cathe's place. Thanks for all your encouragement. It is such a nice thing to have. DebD.

Hi Everyone!

Here in the great Northwest we are finishing up Spring break. It rained all week. Cold & wet. All the rain makes everything so emerald green and beautiful. It's worth it.

We have 3 teenage sons and our home was the hang out this week. It was hoppin'.

Mon: MIS, ran 4 miles
Tues: Energy Sprint, ran 3 miles
Wens: MIC, ran 4 miles
Thurs: MIS, ran 4 miles
Fri: 15 min abs
Sat: Power Max, 15 min abs
Sun: MIS, this evening I'll be running 4 miles with my labrador!

We have a saying at our house..."A tired lab is a good lab". He's 11 months and has more energy then any of us.

See Ya!
Laura

The best week..

totally Dancing. Trained my horse for 6 hours a day for 5 days.
Andrea: what do you think of Elle's "Personal Best?" I managed to fit in these, too:
Cheryl Tieg's Shape Up: going to the bone pile
CF Step Jam: still love this!!
CTX Vol 1 Step/Intervals/Chest*maybe my fave CTX?!
Elle MacPherson w/Karen Voight: Personal best. still like it, sort of.
Charlene Prickett: More Muscle, Less Fat. I'm keeping this for a "less energy day." It doesn't challenge, but if you're not up to par, it could...you know what I mean. When I did it, it was "just enough." and we all need some tapes like that... ;-)

Yes I rewound

Hi Wendy

I just rewound to the beginning of the interval part of the tape.
I guess I just think I need at least 30 min of aerobics.

Lynn

Canoeing ...

does indeed work the lats. And the delts and the tris and the bis and the core, and since I kneel, the quads as well.

Gotta go work on those military presses. Still really struggling getting that boat on top of my Forester by myself.

:) Gretchen

Wait till tomorrow!

I used to think that Daylight Savings Time was a personal attack on tax accountants. I'm no longer practicing but that hour change during the last sprint was a killer.

I still don't like the change - I know I'm in the minority but I like getting up with the sun. It's easy, no alarm clocks.

Gosh, your post about early a.m. workouts just got me ranting!
