Bathroom Renovation

Hi All!

I have been away from this discussion board for awhile - getting ready for my bathroom renovation which starts tomorrow. What an ordeal - "pre-renovation" stuff.

Can't wait until next Monday when it is thru!

Does anyone have any tips they would like to share with me?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Do you think it will take one week? I guess it depends on how much you are having done. My friend just had hers done and it took 4 weeks. I want to do ours but we only have the one shower and I have no idea what to do for showering while it's going on so I have not had it started.

Well, I am told that it will take 6-7 days. I hope that is true because I have to move into a hotel. My bathroom is also very small and I am not having any special tiling designs and I know this guy has another job in my building that starts on 6/15. So......I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Hoping to create a spa-like room with creme porcelain tile from floor to ceiling and all white fixtures. I purchased all of my accessories/faucets and www.waterworks.com - so, now it is wait and see.

Thanks for your comment.

Sounds nice! Wow a week that's awesome.

I'm having my kitchen redone. It was gutted on Friday. They say it should be done the 4th of July week. My boss has been without a kitchen since Jan (he is having MAJOR work done on his house). I am thinking it will be at least 2 months.

Let us know how it goes.

So many choices to make huh!

Thankfully, I don't have to re-do my kitchen - just new appliances. What kind of appliances are you getting for your kitchen? I have been looking at either the 30" Viking or Wolf gas range with a Dacor Over the Range Microwave (www.dacor.com); and either a Bosch or Miele Dishwasher. That is my next project.

Hi Elln,

DH and I are in the midst of a construction project that's about to get "invasive"...meaning we'll be working with a temporary kitchen for a while. We're also creating a new bathroom, but we can fortunately still use our old one while we build the new one. I can handle a temporary kitchen as long as I can still take a shower. LOL!

Just try to take it all in stride, and think of how nice it will be when it's finished.

Elln:

We renovated our bathrooms around the first of the year. They told us it would take one week for each bathroom. Two months later, they were done. Be very careful in checking their workmanship. My plumber insisted that they caulked and sealed all fixtures. When I told him I didn't think so he got really mad. To prove it to him I slipped a piece of paper in between the shower wall and fixture showing that there was no sealant there. There are many little things that I am not happy with but I definately do not want them back in my house again. Good luck and as I said, double check all of their work.

Lucky you! My house has reached the magic age of 26 years and desperatly needs bathroom and kitchen remodeling. I've been putting it off until DD is out of college and the house. I'm waiting for everything (dishwasher, washer, dryer, frig, oven) to start falling apart. We are hoping to put hardwood floors in the family-room this summer, which means painting too. I so dread the work. I hope everything gets done to your satisfaction and in a timely fashion.
