Barbell Weight question?

Cathlete
Anyone have an idea how much a curl barbell weighs on avg ?
My thinking is that if the barbell/curl barbell weighs 10 to 15lbs
and I add plates of 5lbs to each side am I truly lifting 20 to 25 lbs.
Since Im having such a hard time completing more than one set of crazy 8's, it's obvious the weight is to heavy but how much smaller could I go and still keep the barbell bicep work in my rotation? Any and all suggestions welcome?

Thanks,
Tjaded

I think most bars are around 15#. You could check the weight of your bar by first weighing yourself, then weighing yourself while holding the bar (making sure to stand in the same spot on the scale). I don't quite understand your question about going lighter? If the bar weighs 15#, you can't go lighter than that, of course. If you mean lighter than adding on 5# to each side, then you can find some 2.5# plates, or even 1.25 # plates (which are more difficult to find).
