Allergies...Dry Cough??

I have never suffered from allergies until this year. My Dr. said that you can develop them at any time. I have been taking Claritin-D & Nasonex nose spray for about 2 weeks now. I had sinus pressure,clogged nose, dry throat etc. and the medication seems to be working. This past week I have been having a dry cough. Is this a typical symptom of allergies? Again, this is my first year experiencing this, so I really don't know what to expect. I have a few friends and family who have allergies also, but do not experience the coughing. I will probably call the Dr. on Monday, but wanted to know if anyone else goes through this with the coughing.

Hi Aila,

I've been experiencing some strange symptoms as well the past two weeks. It wasn't until I went to a dr. appt for my son that I figured it might be allergies for me too. All three of my kids are on Zyrtec for a month. So, I was just talking to him about what I've been experiencing and he gave me some Zyrtec samples. It worked great! That was so sweet of him. I was just asking him a question. However, now I will follow up with my dr instead of the pediatrician!;-)

I occasionally had a dry cough but nothing persistent. Do you get a lot of phlegm? I've been noticing while working out that I have. I feel like a cat who needs to cough a hair ball up lately!!:-( Today was the first day I didn't experience any of that! Yeah!

Claritin-D didn't work for me. My one son is on Nasonex, maybe I'll look into that as well. Sorry, I know that I wasn't much help. However, I do empathize with you. Hope you get some good advice.

I have allergies and take Zyrtec-D and regular Zyrtec year round. An occasional dry cough is common with allergies, but if it is persistant and you do cough up some pleghm (yuk) I'd check with a Doctor......Carole

My allergies started since I got pregnant 10 yrs ago. I never had them before. I was told to get local honey and use a tsp a day. I put mine in my coffee. It really works! I know a lot of people who do this also, and it works for them.
