Hello everyone,

I know tht u need to wait 48hrs in between ur weight training sessions. I have a few questions: can u lift weights on 2 consecutive days if u r working 2 different body parts, say if i do PUB one day, can do PLB immediately on the following day? how abt cathe's slow and heavy series, can u do the 3 parts on 3 day simultaneously? secondly, after a day of strength training session, can i do aerobics with light weight training even if i have done upper body with weights the previous day, some aerobic videos use light weights, but im afraid of lifting weights on simultaneous days. finally, can i do one day of toning with resistance bands and the next day with weights, working the same body parts each day??

Thanks evryone in advance...

You are correct in knowing that you need to wait 48 hours between weight training sessions, if the same muscles are being exercised. If, as you stated, you do PUB & PLB on consecutive days this is absolutely fine. Each muscle needs 48 hours to repair the tiny tears that are caused by resistance training and this is what adds muscle mass. Exercising the same body part with resistance bands or weights is the same thing. No matter what the resistance is, you should not strength train the same muscle on consecutive days. This also goes for abs by the way. The rectus abdominus, obliques, and the other core muscles need the same time to repair themselves as any other muscle. I've never been a fan of using light weights with cardio. I usually treat something like Boot Camp as a strength training workout and usually do it in between cardio workouts. (I do cardio and strength every other day.) If you are not experiencing undue fatigue or joint or muscle soreness and you want to do the cardio with light weights after a strength training session, I think you will be fine. Just listen to your body.

Hi,
Yes you can do PUB and PLB on consecutive days and yes you can do cardio with lighter weights following a strength training day. The rule of thumb is to take at least 48 hours break between working working the same body part if you are workoing with heavy weights. As far as the S&H series goes,it is probably best to put at least 48 hrs in between the three workouts because there is alot of cross talk between the upper body muscle groups and when you focus on chest for example you are also working other muscle groups to support the movement. Hope that helps.
