6 Flags Magic Mountain

I'm researching 6 Flags Magic Mountain for a trip in mid January. We are going for roller coasters. Any tips for touring the park? Fave rides? thanks

Haven't been there for many years and can't remember the name of the biggest coaster - the wooden one - it is spectacular as far as coaster in mid to northern CA go.

I like the one that does the loops also - it goes both in a 360 from ground to sky, then also does a corkscrew which is pretty cool.

(I hope they don't change the rides there as frequently as they change them at Great America in Santa Clara. I absolutely loved the Stealth but they only kept that one around for a few years).

Have fun

I think the wooden one is Goliath, but it's been years for me too. I preferred it because it didn't turn you upside down, which tends to get to my stomach after awhile.

There are plenty to choose from, believe me!

Thanks, ladies. I am researching tix info, etc. I've never been to Cal. Will this south FL girl have to leave her shorts behind? I wonders I do. More research...

Yes Carole, I think it is Colossus !

For So. Cal in January, most likely in the mid 60's and possibly some rain.

You can get some basic weather info at weather.com and check on the 30 day forcast.

Unfortunately in the next couple of weeks they are predicting a few more storms every few days.

Magic Mountain is at the bottom of a mountain range that actually gets snow at times during the winter so bring both moderately warm and cool clothing.

Are you going to be spending quite a while out here? There are quite a few interesting parks just about an hour or two south of Valencia that are fun - only moderately "fun" coasters, but worth seeing.

Check out websites for Universal Studios, Knottsberry Farm, Disneyland and California Adventure. They are all between Hollywood and Anaheim. The beaches south of LA are nice also as is the drive on Highway 1 along the coast.

Not sure what you like to see or which way you will be going, but up here in No. Cal we have some "good stuff" also.

Hi Jacque,
We'll fly out on Fri, do park on Sat and Sun and fly home Sun eve. We'll have a little time Friday aft and perhaps Sat after park closes at 6.
We don't need to do any other parks, any other suggestions? I like nature and parks and hikes. Anything w/ elevation will be a big change for me. Maybe the drive along the coast that you suggested...
They have a few rides that just seem amazing, I am looking forward to them.
In the meantime I am checking out ticket prices, etc.
Thanks again, smiles...
