RE: 50 and Over

Hi Linny and any later posters--

I did Gay Gasper's All-Out Infused Step (50 min. of step followed by 10 min. of abs and stretch).

Well, I'm ready for the games to begin. Gooooo Red Sox! (This should be yelled loudly.)

Oooh, Linny, I really felt like sleeping in this morning, probably because it's so dark now in the mornings. It was everything I could do to drag myself out of bed and get going.

After my seminar this afternoon, I am skipping the faculty meeting and heading home to work in the flower gardens--cutting my peonies down and cleaning things up for next spring. I am going to pull up these wretched phlox that get mildewy every year for no reason (they are in full sun), and think about another perennial there. Then I'm coming in to make one of my husband's favorite Chinese dishes--eggplant with ground pork over noodles--and watch the Sox, which starts at 6.

Have a great Wednesday, everyone!

RE: 50 and Over

Happy Wednesday, All,

I had my first physical therapy session. It was supposed to be 45 minutes but lasted 2 1/2 hours because the therapist kept finding places on my spine and neck that were messed up. I saw the doctor today - he didn't release me to work tomorrow. He asked me if I wanted another month off while therapy lasted or if I wanted to try light duty (4 hours a day). I want to show my job that I'm trying my best to get back so I said I would try light duty. His orders also say I must be allowed to go to the therapy sessions, which are all already scheduled.

I suggested in an e-mail that, starting Monday, I work afternoons Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons in order to make my therapy appointments and Tuesday and Thursday mornings (mornings are busier than afternoons in my department). I did not offer to do any of my half-days on weekends. (My 4 weekends in a row are supposed to start in 2 weeks). Even if I worked 4 hours Saturday or Sunday, they'd still have to have someone else come in the other 4 hours, plus one person for 8 hours, so it seems pointless to me.

I received a rather enigmatic message in reply from the big boss, saying this weekend is covered (Of course I'm off work until Monday), but that we'd discuss the rest of it when I get back. What part of ''this injury is the company's fault'' do they not understand? And didn't they realize that I could have opted to stay off entirely for this coming month and there's not one thing they could have done about it? Sigh.

Anyway, I'll be doing the physical therapy stuff on those days, and walking on the other days for the next month. I should be checking a bit more regularly now.

Have a wonderful day,
Jen
