RE: 50 and Over
Hi Linny and later posters, if any--
I did Step, Jump, and Pump yesterday and Kimberly Spreen's Cardio Camp today.
Linny, I read your post from yesterday. Yes, summer is really over now--or at least it will be by the end of the week according to the weathermen. Poured here this morning, too, and it was so dark my husband checked his watch, wondering if he had mistakenly gotten up an hour earlier than usual.
Saturday night was fun. The dance company is Dance! Armitage, and the choreographer is Karole Armitage, formerly a dancer trained by Balanchine and a performer with Merce Cunningham. The two pieces were very abstract, but quite beautiful, combining moves from both ballet and modern dance. The title of the second one was from a Philip Larkin poem and makes no sense, but the music was by Bartok--very dissonant. Her dancers had such a variety of bodies that it was interesting to see the way the same move would look so different, depending on the body. We went out to dinner before, and I had my usual Manhattan (mmmm!) and a seared tuna entree, very good.
Today I took advantage of the Columbus Day sale at Macy's and bought a new raincoat (a black trench style, very sleek) and a wool pea jacket (Calvin Klein) in a russet red, both much-needed. My husband hates my current raincoat, which is a big, shoulder padded frumpy thing that is so long I sometimes stumble over the hem when I go upstairs too quickly. I think it was in style in the 80s when I bought it. For winter, I have two very nice coats, but needed a jacket like this. Good sale prices, too!
No classes today because of Fall Reading Period coinciding with Columbus Day. I feel like I am on vacation. Guess I better get back to grading papers (Agh!).
Have a great Columbus Day everyone!!
