1RM Calculator doesn't work for me

When I click on Step 1 to start the process, the orange loading symbol just keeps going around and around. I have minimized the page, thinking maybe it just needs a little time when it's first loaded, but I can come back an hour later and the exercises still have not loaded. What's the problem?

Doesn;t work for me either

Maybe someone will answer your post if I bump it...I can get into it, I put in some stuff, ( not the most user friendly thing to do), and it doesn't calculate... just stays with all zeros....

You have to be logged into the WM to use the 1RM Calculator. The "Orange Loading Symbol" that is never ending for you just indicates that you're not logged in.

There is a bug I'm seeing this morning with the "Show all STS Exercises" not working. We probably broke this late Friday when we were working on some things for the layout of the 1RM calculator.

The 1RM Calculator is actually very quick and easy to use, but I need more details from you in order to be able to help you with your problem.

Still confused on how this is supposed to work...

If I want to do my 1RM for the excercises in Disc 1 of STS. I choose :

"show all STS Excercises"..and select disc 1 from the dropdown...

then select "alternating seated overhead presses"

Enter the weight that I lifted eg 12 pounds

then enter the number of reps eg 8

then hit calculate..

my 1rm for this excercise is 15..

60% would be 9 pounds...

So don't I then need to know how many reps of this excercise Cathe does in this DVD in order to figure out what weight to use? is that listed somewhere?

or am I doing this wrong? :(

No, all you have to do is take the 1RM test. If your 1RM ends up being 100lbs, lets say for barbell curls, and you're in mesocycle #1 week #1 and the DVD you're using says you should train at 60% of your 1RM.... then you will need a barbell weight of 60 lb's.

In Mesocycle #3 the same exercise might be performed at 90% of your 1RM and that means you will need a barbell weight of 90lbs.

But you don't have to worry about the math as the WM will do it for you. All you have to do is take a 1RM test for any exercise you would like to and save your results. Then do the following:

  1. Sechdule an STS Workout
    1. To a schedule a STS workout first click on the Add New link you see on the right side of the STS Workouts category highlighted in orange. This will launch a popup window called STS Workout.
    2. Next, in the Select STS Disc Number dropdown box select the STS disc you wish to schedule a workout for. All of the exercises for the disc you have chosen, along with other information, will automatically load in the same order as the DVD.
    3. With STS we use a percentage of your One Rep Max to determine the weight you should use for most exercises. The correct weight you should use for each STS exercise for your chosen disc # will be shown as long as you have previously performed a One Rep Max test for that exercise (FYI: exercises that you have recorded a One Rep Max test for will always be shown in red while those you have not will be shown in black).
    4. Most of your information like Mets, workout duration, and calories burned will automatically be filled in upon selecting your STS disc #. You will only need to adjust the start time for your workout using the dropdown arrows in the Time field box.
    5. You may also manually enter or change the weight for any exercise if you prefer.
    6. Lastly, you have two choices to save your workout. If you wish to save your workout and print a workout card to follow along with your STS workout simply click on the Print and Save Workout card button you see at the bottom of the popup window. As long as you have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer your workout card will appear and you will just need to click on the printer icon and then click okay.
    7. If you only wish to save your workout and not print a workout card then just click on the Save button.
  2. Record your STS Reps and Weights
    1. After completing your STS workout you may want to record your actual reps and weight so you can track your progress. Simply click on the Record Reps & Weight button in the Agenda View and change your reps and weights as is necessary.
    2. Lastly, you have two choices to save your workout. If you wish to save your workout and print a workout card for your records simply click on the Print and Save Workout card button you see at the bottom of the popup window.
    3. If you only wish to save your workout and not print a workout card then just click on the Save button.
  3. Change STS Status to Completed
    1. First click on the date that contains the STS workout you wish to change the status to completed.
    2. After Agenda View opens select the radio button next to Completed in the STS category. A small pop up window will open saying Your workout is recorded successfully.
    3. Lastly, click OK and when you return to the Calendar View your STS image will now be Brown indicating that you have completed the workout.
    4. To change any of the data you entered for your STS workout simply click on the view/edit button in the agenda view and then click Save after making any changes.

Thank you for your help!

Thank you...one more question...why in the 1RM calculator is there a box "Recommended Weight To Perform Quantity of Reps" that changes depending on you 1RM? What is this used for?

That will show what weight you should use to perform any specific amount of reps.

..so should we know how many reps are in a particular excercise in STS to know what weight to use after we have done our 1RM?
