    Have a great Cathe day

In the course of my business life, I ran across someone who was a member of the U.S. Navy. Whenever he sent me an email, he concluded it with the expression, "Have a great Navy day." It's my impression that that is a common sign off in the U.S. Navy. For some reason, it struck me and I liked...

    Endurance v. Strength

Have noticed that the difference between endurance and strength work outs is an issue that surfaces in these forums from time to time, not just in discussions about weightlifting, but, e.g., is kickboxing muscular endurance training or cardio (or both). Just came across a very short and...

    kickboxing certifications

Cathe (or Jai/Lorraine): In your blog re. the new DVDs, you mention that Jai and Lorraine are certified kickboxing instructors. Would you happen to recall the (reputable) organizations that do this sort of certification? Am looking forward to the new Kickboxing DVD - am a regular...

    Computer whizzes???

Help on this would be appreciated. In Cathe's DVD store section, there are previews available for each DVD. Some of the previews play perfectly on my Windows Media Player, but some of them don't. I push the same buttons each time. On the ones that don't play, I get a message that says...

    Question re. author search

Any computer whizzes out there? Is there a way on this website to do a search that would show all posts by a particular author? I have figured out a search by topic, but can't seem to do this other type. Thanks.

    BEGINNERS

Here are a few things I wish someone had told me when I started exercising regularly. Other people, please feel free to add anything that would have helped you or might help new beginners. (1) Cathe and the people in her DVDs have probably been exercising for years. Don't get hung up on...

KICK PUNCH CRUNCH/LEGS GLUTES - DVD

Cathe: In the legs and glutes section, there are two series of what I think you call "Drop Squats." One foot on the stool, then drop sideways onto the other foot, plie down, then move up to two feet on stool, etc. The first series is just up and down. The second series adds a lateral leg...

Kick Punch Crunch - alternate way to do calf raises

F.Y.I. In the lower body segment on Kick Punch Crunch, Cathe does calf raises by standing on the step and holding a bar (the bar part from the barbell) upright for balance while performing the exercise. If you don't have a bar (I don't, just use dumbbells), an alternate way is to stand on 5 lb...

LIST OF EXERCISES ON EACH DVD

FYI. Have been typing up lists of exercises on DVDs I use and then write in the weights as I go. Just figured out it's much quicker to go to the DVD descriptions which list all the exercises. Then block the list and paste it in your word processing software. Saves time.

    PYRAMID - UPPER BODY

FYI, here is a list of the upper body exercises on the Pyramid DVD. You can print it out and then hand write in your weight selections as you go along. If I am feeling particularly energetic, at the end I add in those 1/2 curls Cathe does on Musclemax. It might be helpful to have an...

what is the teardrop? teardrop effect?

Cathe: I started your work outs recently. You refer to the teardrop muscle. Which muscle is this? Quads? Tensor fasciae lata? I did a search of the forums and found a couple of posts by you in which you recommend leg extensions to develop the teardrop, but could not locate a definition...

    triceps horseshoe teardrop

Help with the following would be appreciated. Cathe refers to the horseshoe portion of the triceps. From books, it appears that the closed end of the horseshoe-shaped triceps is at the top, just beneath the shoulder/deltoid, and the open end is above the elbow, with the opening consisting of...

    Musical Dumbbells for Commuters

Cathe: It is hard to come up with suggestions for already excellent exercise DVDs. But perhaps the following might be helpful. Workouts that move quickly are helpful for those with time limitations. Weight work outs with barbells have down time when a weight change is needed. It is...
