Moms to be Check in April 28

I'm a little late on the ball this week - it's finals week and it feels like all I've done is grade exams all week. I'm so excited to see so many new people! I felt great last week, and did the Trolley Run on Sunday - it was four miles, but I only jogged about two. DH is running a half...

    Moms to be-check in

Looks like everyone is doing great as usual! I felt a little under the weather yesterday, but I think it was a reaction to a long workout I did on Saturday combined with a bit of a junk-food binge - I made guacamole (good for you) and ate it with lots of tortilla chips (not good). I think...

Moms to be check in -easter week

Hello ladies!! I've just started my two-week doctor appointments, so I feel like I'm really getting close (31 weeks)! Passed my glucose, but my iron was a bit low - I'm on iron supplements now. Workouts feel great, which is good because in a week and a half I'm registered for the KC Trolley...

Sweating - how much is too much??? Overheating - how hot is too hot???

Sweating is a sign that your body is effectively getting rid of heat - which is a good thing!! I do have one idea that may help - in one of Charlene Pricket's videos she reccommends using an electric fan to help cool you off - the air movement helps the sweat "do it's job". (She actually...

Preggo check in- 2nd week of April

Mary - Good luck with the glucose test! Shopaholic - I'll check out Step'n'Strike - although it looks like it's not on DVD :( I also like Seasun's Rock Steady Step - one of her background exercisers is pregnant. I figure if she can do it, so can I!

    Help with workouts

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy!! I know the other folks here will have lots of great advice, but I'll tell you about my experience so far (at 29 weeks). The Time-Savers should be great for you since they're all under an hour, and they include both cardio and weights...

Preggo check in- 2nd week of April

I just had my last Bradley class last night (we started early)...so now I feel like I'm really getting close to this birth thing! Angie - Congrats on the boy!! I am having a boy, too, and sometimes I get a little wistful (or wishful) when I look at all of the cute girl clothes that I won't...

    How Long?

We started "trying" the first month after I went off the pill - my doctor said that sometimes you can get pregnant right away. That wasn't the case for us - it took us 5 months to get pregnant. It felt like an eternity at the time, but doesn't seem so bad now. Plus, my cycle was very...

    Found out I'm pregnant yesteray...

I second (or third?) the vote for "Your Pregnancy Week by Week". You may also want to check out "Exercising Through your Pregnancy" by James Clapp. It's a little dry, but has a lot of good information about the positive effects of intense exercise during pregnancy. Also, like Andrea said...

April Fool's week-moms to be check in

I think pregnancy weight gain is such an individual thing - I'm sure it helps that we're staying active. My worst fear when I got preggo was getting a huge belly, but now that I'm "showing" I actually think it's pretty cool - I haven't cried over my missing waist yet (and neither has DH). I...

    vericose veins

For those of you who got varicose veins, did you undergo any treatments post-pregnancy to get rid of them? My Mom is considering sclerotherapy (sp?) and I was wondering how effective/painful it is.

moms to be week of mar 26

Looks like folks so far had a great week. I myself have recovered from my vertigo incident - which DH has now dubbed "the dizzies", which allows me to laugh at the whole experience. My belly had a growth spurt last week, giving me that unpleasant "stretched" feeling after every meal. I...

Moms to be check -March 19

The vertigo is not related to pregnancy - just a fluke thing. The research I've done says that 50% of cases have no known cause - the other 50% are age-related (I'm only 30) or occur after head trauma. I'm hoping to be off Antivert this week...although I will be calling in a refill just in case.

Moms to be check -March 19

I feel you ladies on the fatigue! I'm up to a full hour nap every day... I was out of comission almost all last week and the week before - a week ago Thursday I came down with Benign Positional Vertigo (BPV), which basically meant that I got dizzy every time I moved my head. Long story...

    Preggos check in march 4

Last week was a low energy week for me - I just felt sluggish. I managed to work out most days, but modified a lot. I'm starting to get a few aches and pains from the pregnancy, namely sore calves and feet when I run, and a little bit of low back pain...no swelling yet, though. I tried...

Moms to be-week of Feb 18

Hmmm...I haven't done Kickmax in a while - I think I might pull it out now that you guys have given me the kickbox bug!! Last week I felt great - I pulled out two of my more complex step tapes and had a blast. This week (as will show in the next check-in), I don't have quite as much energy...

    Belly Belt

I'm currently 23 weeks and have been using a maternity belt for my morning runs for the past two weeks. I'm very happy with it - it supports my belly and seems to prevent that constant "gotta pee" feeling I had prior to wearing it. You should definitely check it out. The belt I use is the...

preggo check in week of 2-18

My running workouts are starting to suffer - from the weather! It's been really cold here for the past few days and I refuse to run when it's less than 20 degrees out...(believe it or not, in Kansas City that really doesn't happen that often). My workouts this week: Sun: Stretch Max (1...

Preggo check in -week Feb. 11

I'm trying to concentrate on staying active and not worrying about the scale, but it sure is tough!! I'm almost 22 weeks about up about 11 pounds - but it's hard to tell exactly because my home scale measures heavier than the doctor's scale. I caught a side view of myself when I was walking...
