San Francisco, Bay area visit (please help plan)

DH and I went to SF for 2 days for Thanksgiving and loved it! I second the above suggestions, and also if you have any extra time, SF has one of the best Chinatowns in the world, great restaurants and shops, a very scenic part of the city. It's centrally located, sort of on the way to Union...

What workout do you want Cathe...

This wasn't even listed, and knowing Cathe's love of intensity it probably isn't even a possibility, but I would LOVE an intermediate circuit workout with dumbbells and bands, and just floor work for the cardio.

    Not judging, just curious

Annabelle, what a great post. Thank you for your perspective. I'm thinking of getting a bumper sticker that says "Whose marriages would Jesus invalidate?"

    Not judging, just curious

I was not married in a church, and am not religious. But being married to my husband is the best thing in my life and I'm sad that gay couples are being deprived of that joy. Separate-but-equal civil contracts are not the same as being married. For those who read the Bible so literally, I...

    Microwave-safe plates?

I never know what kind of plate to use to heat up something in the microwave. A few days ago I put one of my discount store dishes, CLEARLY marked "microwave-safe", in the microwave for 75 SECONDS ONLY to heat up a muffin - when I reached in to remove it the plate was so hot I burned my hand...

Barack Obama is President of the United States of America

For those who are worried about big government and its programs, I just want to remind you that for the money we have spend on the Iraq war, we could have provided health insurance for every man, woman and child in America, and repaired all of our highways and bridges. (And probably had a bit...

    beating the body up

I am so in agreement with everyone else. I'm 51 now, and over the past few years I just don't like pushing myself to the limit any more. It's not so much that it fatigues me more or is that much more difficult, but mentally I just feel like "Why???? Why am I trying to lift heavier and...

    One Marriage, Two Candidates *Semi-Political*

For those that commented about Arnie and Maria Shriver being of opposite parties, when Arnie was first elected Governer of CA, some interviewer asked "Governor, do you and your wife ever argue about politics?" and Arnie replied "No, not since I've been sleeping on the sofa..." LOL.

    weaker right bicep???

I also often notice during full body workouts that my ENTIRE left arm and shoulder seem to be a bit stronger and better-rested than my right side. I would think that because I'm right-handed I would be stronger on my right side, but I decided that I use my right hand to do almost everything in...

Yeah, right: Eva Longoria still a size 0 after weight gain?

I think on the show they are dressing her in "fat clothes" and padding - when you see her out and about in real life she still looks quite slender (to me, at least), but on the show she looks plumper. So possible she really has only gone up a size in real life but on the show her character has...

    Pumpkin butter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trader Joes has it too, just in the fall (it just came in to our local TJS) when I stock up on it. A big spoonful swirled into some cottage cheese with a few toasted pecans thrown in, YUM. The best snack. Full of vitamin A. If you can't find pumpkin butter in stores, you can find recipes...

How much percentage is base on Genes, diet and exercise to

Let me guess, the person who wrote the article saying that only 10% is genes has a new diet or exercise program to sell us? One that will make us all look like Heidi Klum while only stretching for 10 minutes a day and taking a supplement?? LOL. I guess I think that about 50% is genes...

    Steve Fossett

This is not really my theory, but it's fun to think about. He was a super duper adventurer. Maybe he faked his own death, disappeared somewhere, and planted these items to make people think his plane crashed in the Sierras. The list of items seems just a little TOO obvious - wallet, t-shirt...

    Another dumb forum ?

Oh I'm glad you asked this question, I have been curious about this for so long! I have another question about it. When people reply to those threads, is there a way to tell your computer to just make the little arrow every time you hit enter or something? Or do people actually type...

    Anybody use grocery coupons?

I love to use coupons and get them out of the Sunday paper every week. For me it's a fun hobby, I have them organized in little sections in a card box - shampoos, toothpastes, laundty soap, cereals, soaps, cosmetics, general food, general non-food and then within those caregories, by date. I...

    So, who won the debate?

I am the complete opposit of hortyhoos1 on social issues - I am vehemently pro-choice and pro-gay rights and those issues are almost more important to me than any others, so I could never vote for a Republican in the party's current incarnation of social ultra-conservatism. I did vote for...

Kelly Coffey Meyer - do you like her dvds?

I think she does not cue well. Some of her workouts are better than others and I do them so infrequently I can't say which is which - I think I had real problems with her first step/kickbox combination workout, as I recall I wrote a not-great review on Collage complaining that you can't hear...

Overeats at night -- please help!

You might try making your breakfast bigger by about 50%. For me, when I eat a large breakfast (600-600 calories), after a few days I find I have hardly any interest in food at night. Just give it a try for a few days and see if it makes a difference.

A difference of 10 lbs....happy in your skin?

Add me to the list of happy-but-slightly-larger folks. I lost 45 lbs about 4 years ago through meticulous eating and tough workouts every day, I got down to 145 (pretty much the lowest I've weighed in my adult life) and scrupulously stayed there for over 2 years by weighing myself daily and...
