Increasing numbers of child-free by choice people

Aquajock and Mogambo, thank you so much for what you have said. I have been struggling with the decision not to have children for several years now. My husband and I often have serious discussions about this choice and we're both quite concerned about how his family and society will react...

    Low Impact for Injury Recovery?

Hi guys! I need some help from the educated crowd. My knee blew out the other day and since I have spent months hobbled in a brace before, I want to be extra careful while it heals. I'm doing all the right stuff as far as medication, icing, resting, etc. but I'd really like to exercise as...

10 Things about you that we Catheites may or may not know...

RE: 10 Things about you that we Catheites may or may no... This is a fabulous fun thread! I don't post too often but think this is a great way to get to know my Cathe friends... 1. I turned 30 last July. 2. I am two courses away from an Interior Design degree (second career). 3. I've been...

    People seeing you work out....

The only "people" I will work out in front of is my cats. They usually stick around through the warm up and then scratch at the door to be let out ("WHY are you throwing your arms above your head like that?? Let me out of here!!"). Even my husband is not allowed in the room--it's just too...

    Any yogurt eaters

I recently discovered Whole Soy's soy yogurt and have been eating it every day. It's very creamy, fruity and yummy AND it's totally dairy free (even the lactic acid is veggie based)! My allergy to milk prevents me from eating regular yogurt so this stuff is a miracle!!

$19.99 80 lb. Barbell at Amazon?

Hi guys! I was wondering if anybody out there has tried out this barbell from Amazon yet? I first heard about it here on Cathe's site and was thinking of ordering it as an extra "heavy" barbell. I'd like to know if the bar is thin enough for upper body work but still strong enough not to...

    dairy products??

Hi Jane, Let me begin by confessing that I am biased towards the non-dairy camp because I am so highly allergic to dairy (molecules of milk protein can cause a life-threatening reaction for me). Because of this allergy, I do find myself reading a lot of literature that is anti-dairy. One of...

    Yoga vs. Strength Training

RE: Cathe. You have solved my dilemma I'd definitely recommend the Yoga Zone for Beginners series to anybody just starting yoga. I think the careful explanations of each move are pretty close to what you would get in an actual yoga class. Yoga Journal's beginner videos are also very good. I...

    How did you find Cathe?

I started a new job in 1997 and was told that I had to surf the internet during slow times in order to improve my web skills. It was because of that surfing that I discovered videofitness.com. I was already doing Karen Voight videos (which I thought were SO tough!) and couldn't believe the...

    Clean Eating

Hi Lisa! I am one of those rare and unfortunate individuals who are deathly allergic to all dairy products. One tiny microscopic bit of milk/butter/cheese and I get violently ill and could go into shock. Because of this, I do all of my own cooking, baking, etc. with soy milk. I can make just...

Another problem-shoulder pops and pain during workout

Do you mean that your shoulder makes a popping noise or that it actually pops out of the socket? I only ask because I'm double jointed and my shoulder tends to pop out of the socket during some moves. I've found that if I tense up all my shoulder muscles while doing those moves that it doesn't...

    What is Imax 2 like?

My pal Jill (jillianh) convinced me to do IMAX2 for the first time yesterday and I absolutely loved it! GREAT music, fun step portions and motivating intervals. The thing that makes it seem easier than IMAX for me is that many of the intervals are done on the step so it isn't as tough on the...

    cathe shirts?

RE: I suggest Baby Tees! Like you, Irma, I do not speak up often on these boards but this is an important issue! ;-) I totally agree with you that baby tees are a great idea. They are very flattering and so comfortable for working out. I would definitely buy at least one to show my...
