    Survey: reverse flies

Interesting. I can go up to 8 or 10 lbs, but I can only do like 4-5 reps at the pace cathe goes in MIS. So I always stay at 5. Jeanne - 12 lbs - WOW! I use 20-25 lbs for one-arm rows, but reverse flies are a challenge. Gotta keep working at it I guess. Interested to hear more responses marnie

    Survey: reverse flies

Hi everyone! Slow afternoon here at the office... so I'm posting another survey :) I've been weight training for about 4 years. I still cannot go over 5 lbs when doing reverse flies. I can't lift as high as cathe during reverse's either. I'm pretty defined in my upper back/rear delt areas, but...

    Update on my tick bite!

Wow! So glad you're being treated. Hope you can get back to your routine soon! Do all tick bites result in Lyme disease? I thought it was only deer ticks. Maybe I need to be more educated since I go hiking & trail running quite often. And I guess geography doesn't matter since you live in...

Where do you guys find all this cool stuff!?!

I agree with mogambo. I live near san francisco and we are blessed with all kinds of health food stores, fitness-oriented stores etc. If you aren't in an area like that, you can always search online. There are lots of cool websites that offer health food marnie

    Running and Shin Splints

Hi mojolisa! I've always preferred Asics for running. I tried other brands, but I have small feet (6 1/2) and narrow heels and Asics fits the best for me. Their gel cushioning is awesome too. Check out http://www.roadrunnersports.com they have a really great "shoe finder" (Shoe Dog) section...

    In a PERFECT world.......

    What's your avg. cardio time?

That's strange, I've never heard that about long slow distance cardio causing fat storage? Look at distance runners & cyclists; they are usually quite thin with very little body fat. This is because after they use up their glycogen stores (from stored carbs) they begin tapping into stored body...

Hi Bobbi! Sounds like you got some great miles in this week! And WOW it's getting HOT out there in Tuscon!! :) Have you checked out the race training plans on RW's website? There is a Higdon 5K plan for intermediate & advanced. You should be able to get good solid advice on pacing. I like...

LAST EDITED ON Feb-25-02 AT 03:38PM (Est)[p]Hi guys! Anyone run or run/walk or walk this week? We are having glorious weather here in the bay area, so I got out a lot. During the week I ran a total of 15 miles and I had a terrific 7.5 mile run on saturday at a wetlands preserve near my house...

    Running and Shin Splints

LAST EDITED ON Feb-25-02 AT 03:24PM (Est)[p]Hi mojolisa! Shin splints are really common among beginning runners. Your body is getting used to the pounding impact of running. Even though you've been working out for a long time, aerobics & kickboxing don't compare in terms of constant impact. It...

    S&H Question

I agree, just try it & you'll figure out if you need to go heavier. Sounds like you have plenty of poundage for a great workout. One question - do you have a barbell for squats? That's the only thing I would suggest. I can go pretty heavy on S/H legs with my barbell (35-40 lbs, heavy to me at...

LAST EDITED ON Feb-22-02 AT 03:10PM (Est)[p]see my post above... I just posted as you asked this question! CTX is extremely popular on this forum! It's a lot of fun, lots of variety, and quite effective. Do a search, you'll find lots of info marnie

    What tape/dvd to get next?

You might like Power Max, if I remember correctly, there aren't any plyometrics in this one. It's tough - don't get me wrong - but you mentioned you didn't like the plyo work from the Firm. Cathe doesn't combine weights and aerobics like the Firm. However, she has circuit workouts where you do...
