LAST EDITED ON Mar-13-02 AT 04:16PM (Est)[p]Okay, since jillybean posted "what are your favorite step moves" I thought I'd post this one: What Cathe move do you totally dread? Whether it's from step, cardio kicks, weights... whichever! For me, I totally dread tricep dips! I don't know why...

    Energy pills needed!

Eating a snack in the afternoon really helps. A carb/protein mix like yogurt & fruit, veggie-bean soup or apple & peanut butter are great choices. Are you able to take an afternoon break and go for a brisk walk? Even if it's only 10-15 mins. This can really re-energize you. I go for a 30-min...

    Bobbi - question for you

Hi Bobbi! I was going to reply in our Running check-in but I wasn't sure you'd see it. My question... What is Aerobic Yoga? Yoga done at a fast enough pace that it is considered aerobic? Sounds intriguing. Never heard of this! Same as power yoga? Also, I'm interested in the pilates you're...

    Heavy squats question

Hi Sharon, I'm obviously not Cathe :) but I did PS Legs/Abs this morning and your post reminded of something Cathe says in this video. She says since it's difficult for women to hoist really heavy weight up on our shoulders without a spotter, she puts exercises in that pre-fatigue the leg...

    Running check-in 3/4

Hi Tuvak! Welcome to the Running check-in! Let me just say I so admire duathaletes & triatheletes!!! I am amazed at people who can do this! I am such a terrible swimmer, I'd never get through this part! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU! Please let us know how you do. I found since doing S/H that my hill...

    Running check-in 3/4

RE: Running check-in I agree with you Bobbi. I started running in junior high (I'm 30 now) but only started racing about 3 years ago. What a difference. I never wore a watch while running before that! Yes I'm faster & get more mileage in, but it's really a different mindset when all you think...

    Is MIC fun?

Is MIC fun? If you consider torture fun, then yes! :) Seriously, I like the step portion better. Haven't done this one in ages though, it's just too hard. I'd rather do my 10-mile run marnie

    FYI, Nike/Adidas sweatshops

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately almost all major American companies have their manufacturing plants in Mexico & third-world countries with deplorable conditions & very low wages. It's a sad truth that's been going on a very long time. http://www.sweatshopwatch.org http://wwwlabornet.org...

    starting all over again...

Hi Anat, 1400-1500 calories seems low if you're exercising 4 days a week. This may be why you stopped losing weight (before you became discouraged). I think it's a great idea that your meeting with a dietician. She will recommend the proper amount of calories you need. A healthy active woman...

Something's missing from the new M&FHers issue...

I just sent my comments too! For those of us who don't read M&FHs... who did make their list? I'm curious, because I don't think anyone even comes close! (which is what I told them in my email :) marnie

    Jogging and Colds

Hi Sharon, that's an interesting question. The first thing that comes to my mind is: are you dressing properly? Are you wearing clothing that wicks moisture away from your body? Cotton is a terrible wicking material. There are several brands of clothing made for wicking including Cool-Max and...

    Running check-in 3/4

Hi Bobbi! Your 5K time is great! Good job! I don't consider 24:17 slow at all, I wouldn't think most runners do either You sound like you'd make a good sprinter. I run the exact opposite of you - I start out slow and gradually build up speed, which has resulted in some pretty decent PRs :)...

    Running check-in 3/4

RE: Question? Running isn't bad for women's knees per se, if you train smart and gradually condition your muscles & bones. There's obviously a lot of impact involved in running, but if you start out slow and gradually build up your mileage base, your bones & muscles will adapt & become stronger...

    Running check-in 3/4

I live in a really mild climate, but I've always been an early-morning runner. For safety's sake, I carry pepper spray & I do not wear headphones/walkman. I don't think it's a good idea to run in 100+ degree weather though. Early morning would be ideal I think marnie

    Running check-in 3/4

Hi guys! Anyone go for a run, run/walk or walk this week? I got some good mileage in. Ran 4 days @ 4 miles each and did an 8-mile long run on saturday. Kept a 9:00-min pace which is really good for me on a long run. My knee feels pretty much healed now. I think I could have pushed saturday's...
