    workout mats

Hi Liz, I have the mats from www.greatmats.com but I got them for help absorbing impact, not for "slideability". Really I don't know if they were any more slippery than my (low pile, rather smooth) carpet, and they are, at the moment, under my carpet. But maybe this idea from the forum at...

    Advice From Educated Crowd

I don't know that anyone could give you numbers on this one. Part of the problem is that since running uses different muscles, or uses them differently, than step does, your body may have to work harder cardio-wise than you might expect just to keep putting one foot in front of the other.(I'm...

Pilates/Yoga suggestions to compliment Cathe strength tapes

I love Bryan Kest's older 3-pack: Energize, Tone, and Sweat. Definitely great, challenging yoga tapes to grow with. I don't have any just Pilates tapes, all the previews I've seen so far look too boring to me; but I do love Kari Anderson's tapes that are inspired by yoga, Pilates, and dance...

    Frustrated (again) Please Help!!!!

Oh Janice, you sound just like me. I can just hear myself: all the other kids get to play hard all the time, why can't I?? But the more I read this forum and the ones at videofitness.com, the more I realize that there really are a lot of us who have to cut down, have to modify, have to lower...

    Need suggestion

Yep, Powerstrike 1 is not at all a prerequisite, just a different workout. --Karen

    A new definition...

Help me on technique here--specifically, how to work hard enough to get your heart rate up when you don't have enough hills. I've read that weighted vests would help some with this, but they are expensive, and I worry that carrying the extra weight would be more stress on these knees that I'm...

    cathe shirts?

I'd like both a tee-shirt and a tank top. My favorite is the big Cathe logo across the front and either "I survived IMAX" (remember folks, modifications count as survival too!) or "Max Fitness" on the back. But I'll buy whatever you come out with. Thanks for being willing to consider it! --Karen

    Footwear??

My only advice is to try lots of shoes on. I currently have good luck with Reebock DMX and Nike Air varieties, Rykas give me blisters. I drive them crazy at the shoe stores trying everything on but my feet are weird and it takes several tries to find something that doesn't rub in wrong places...

    When to stop increasing weights

The weights are mostly just a little down from previous, by 2 to 4 pounds. I figure I'll go down real slow so I can keep the highest my joints will be happy with. --Karen

    When to stop increasing weights

Actually right now I seem to be in decreasing the weight used mode. I'm 45 and joints all over my body are complaining. I wanted to be Amazon Woman but my body disagrees (and I'm pretty aggravated with it for doing so too!). Anyway, I get away with the weights Cathe uses for LL EXCEPT that I...

    Great Mats?

Kathy, I have the 5/8 inch thick dense foam mat and I dearly love it. A 12x10 foot mat area is big enough for Rhythmic Step, that's what I bought. Their service is great--very fast. But they did confuse me by never sending a confirmation email when I ordered like I'm used to from other...

Cathe videos you're too chicken to use!

Tracy, Be sure to read through "the dreaded Interval Max" thread on this forum for some great pointers on working your way up to IMAX. Be patient, take your time, you'll get it (and I bet love it!) --Karen

    ammonia smell during workouts?

Are you sure its just your sweat? I have a certain pair or exercise shorts that the waistband of them gets an ammonia smell when I sweat in them but it doesn't happen with other clothes. --Karen

    the pill at 36???

Another vote for IUDs here. From what I've read they're the safest, most effective method for monogamous women with children. I don't know about women without children, you might have a greater chance of unknowingly expelling it and there goes your effectiveness. I'm scared of the Depo...
