    Storms a'comin'!

You know, those 2 hour delays are nice to a point, but when they they hold out the full closure of schools until the very end of the delay, it gets annoying for those of us who work. Just close them already! We have sleet/1/4" ice and more in store for us...I didn't pack them lunches so they...

A ques for experienced clean eaters....

Carmen, I'm surely no expert on clean eating, but I've been attempting it since 1/1, and I've been very happy. My weight loss has been very slow - only 4 pounds, but I only had 10 to lose, and those are always so stubborn (esp. after 40 - argh!) I've read Tosca's book, and although I may...

    Foam roller use

Does anyone feel they've had significant relief with their ITB syndrome from the roller? I've pretty much given up running because it just always flares up and is so painful. Do you do it morning and night? Before +/or after running? It's definitely hampered my running which is a shame...

    Storms a'comin'!

Bring it on! I absolutely LOVE a good snowstorm. I love to watch them develop - I'm such a weather geek anyway. They call me "Doppler Heidi" at work because I'm always predicting weather, telling everyone when the thunderstorms will arrive, etc. I'm also an official "severe weather spotter"...

    It's very dark without power....

Hey! I'm in OH too - our power went out at about 12:30, and I panicked. The wind was really wicked - I was scared my windows were going to shatter. My mind started reeling -- crap, what will we do for heat, getting the kids to school, I won't be able to shower, etc. ,etc...meanwhile DH...

    giving freaks bad ideas

I wholeheartedly agree. The hack and slash movies are pointless and nasty. Especially the ones where they paralyze them, torture them...yuck. I do agree, however, that even though VERY gory, I did like Silence of the Lambs. Gore, yes, but so suspenseful and did have a plot. My favorite kind...

    supplements

Multivitamin EFA's Calcium/zinc/magnesium Coenzyme q CLA (tonalin) And then there's birth control pills, my wellbutrin also - it's a gagfest getting them all down in the am? Does anyone take their's at night vs. in the am? I worry about my am coffee fix and "peeing out" all my...

    Clean Eating

Hi there, I recently purchased Tosca's diet book and eat-clean diet cookbook as well. Since 1/1, I've been attempting clean eating, and actually have done better than I thought! I'm not quoting from Tosca, and I know she can be a bit extreme at times, but I don't worry SO much about the...

    Sugar vs. Splenda

I've been on a "no-artificial sweetener" kick since 1/01 (deciding if it is a trigger for migraines) and also trying to decrease white sugars, etc. I've been very happy with agave nectar. Use it in tea and it tastes great. I also used it on my grapefruit, and it was good there too. Found it...

    Goldendoodle

From my experience as a veterinarian, I'll tell you I'm seeing less and less coming through as puppies. They seemed to be big a couple of years ago, but I find interest is waning in this mix breed. And, yes, although I've seen some nice ones, the majority have been hyper and, quite honestly...

    honey crisp apples

Mmmm....I'm munching on a huge honeycrisp right now. They are scrumptious. I just wish they were a tad smaller so they weren't so much per piece. I bought 4 apples that weighed 3 lbs and they were $2.29/lb. You do the math....but, they are so good. I be sure to savor every bite. Heidi

Funny joke if you are not an Ohio State fan...

I agree wholeheartedly, Siren. As a fellow Ohioan, OSU alum and loyal buckeye fan and follower, I was really happy we made it as far as we did. Yes, I was disappointed, but not nearly as badly as last year. That took me literally months to get over (yeah, stupid, I know, but what else do we...

My Clean Eating progress report for anyone else attempting this.

Thanks, Jess...no headaches yet! I know it's only been about a week, but I'm waiting for that moment when I feel like a new person-- all energized, clear-headed, feeling good about myself -- from eating clean...hmmmm, I hope it happens. H.

My Clean Eating progress report for anyone else attempting this.

This is an interesting thread for me since I've been attempting clean eating since 1/1. I don't have Tosca's book, and I'm sure by no means as strict as her, but here's what I've been doing: B: 1 whole grapefruit, 2 slices high-fiber oat bread with Naturally Made PB and blueberries...

    Canker sores!!

Thanks, everyone. Thanks for the scoop on the Rembrandt. I also have sensitivity issues so usually use a toothpaste for that although I don't know how effective they are. I'd rather have less canker sores than the occasional sensitivity issues, so I may try it. Will get the lysine, rinse...

    Canker sores!!

Thanks for all the replies - and the sympathy :) I've done the salt thing - my SIL swears by it. I make a salt paste and hang over the sink. It hurts like a sonofab****! Not sure if it's helped me. I also am considering the lysine - I know we use it in cats with recurrent viral issues...

    DISGUSTING

That is gross, but I have an 11 year old that could snarf one down as well :) He loves baconators (Wendy's or B. King?) and crunchwrap supremes and beefy cheesy melts from T. Bell....not that we go there a lot, but man that kid can eat! (and he's a rail - very thin and active) I do have to...

    Canker sores!!

Does anyone have any advice for someone plagued with canker sores? I'm going to the dentist in a couple of weeks and am planning to ask them, but I am in so much pain. I know there is some hormonal components to their recurrence as well as stress (and genetics as my mother gets them as well)...

    Gum chewing

Egad, I'd chew my left arm off as well. That is SO annoying!! Like others have stated, if she's only a temp, let it go. If she's there to stay, I'd have to say something but would try to just be open and honest. Say two really good things first, then throw in the gum chewing as a side note :)...
