    Home births & Midwives

Hi Autumn! Max (2) was delivered in a hospital by a CNM and I had Lily (6 mo.) at home with a lay midwife. To sum up my midwife with Lily was a much better experience. The CNM performed an episiotomy after I stated during my visits that I did not want one. And my episiotomy hurt for...

So I started the Eat to Live plan...

Thanks! I think you are both right. I will try more plant protein and calorie dense foods.

    how many are we?

Congratulations, Linda! It has probably been a couple years, but I remember seeing you on here, considering if/when to have a baby and asking for input. Anyway, hope you are feeling well, and good to see you around!

Alright, who pees when they run?

I have the same problem when I do aerobics. Unfortunately I have to wear incontinence pads when I work out. In my experience ob/gyns aren't the ones to go to to get diagnosis on this front. You should see someone specialized like a urologist instead (if you feel the need to see a doctor)...

So I started the Eat to Live plan...

2 weeks ago and have noticeably lost weight (can fit into clothes that I couldn't several weeks ago). (FYI, I had a baby 6 months ago and am nursing). The problem is when I go to workout, I have no energy. I did CTX last week and am starting timesaver this week because that is all I have...

    Personal Question

Maggie, That sounds great! Everyone should be so lucky! Melanie, How weird that everything between our toddler and baby is the same! I got my period back after Max when he was 13 months old. Then I also had one period and became preg again. And our two are spaced the same - 22.5 months!

Baby won't let me put her down!

Your post reminded me of a book called the Happiest Baby on the Block. I only skimmed/read parts of it, but the author has some opinions about "colicky" baby that might interest you. Also says that newborns like to feel that they are still in the womb by being wrapped tightly. Don't know if...

    Lisa - LHK

When I think about it, the nest really is funny (and kind of primitive). Yes, if put it the crib he will throw his blankets and pillows out and sleep on the floor and we tried the crib mattress on the floor and he won't do that either. The fortunate thing in this situation is that he can't...

    Briee

Briee, I forgot to tell you that I tried to email you, but it was sent back to me. So, that is why I posted this thread here (not that it's too personal or anything). So, this book, are you saying amazing things happened in your household because you stopped cooking and cleaning or because you...

    Toddler Sleep Battles

In my opinion, it would be beneficial to you and your child to get her to fall asleep in her own bed/crib on her own. That should be your goal. Now getting there will be hard because you have established a precedent. And since toddlers thrive on routine, it will be hard to break your daughter...

    Briee

Briee, I wanted to tell you that I got the train up a child book you talked about. I am glad I got it and learned many good things. I can see how many things they say are true. I think everyone should read the chapters on attitude training and emotional control. I am hesitant to be gung ho...

    Lisa - LHK

Lisa, I just wanted to respond, but didn't want to add it to Melanie's Maggie post which is getting long. Anyway, I hope work is working :P out well. Thanks for the thanks :P too! Anyway, all you need if there is another baby in your future is a water birth. The warm water makes all the...

    Personal Question

I got my period back when my first was 13 months. My current baby is 6 months, and not period yet. I have breastfed both. Yes, the same thing happened to my hair. I think it is normal (unless all of your hair falls out, then see a doc :+ ).

    Evangeline Gloria has arrived!

Maggie, That is amazing that you went into labor just before you were supposed to be induced. Congratulations to you and welcome little Evangeline! Well, your doc is getting paid well for just barely showing up in time. ;) Are you nuzzling your little newborn's head? I know that's...

    I am so upset

I would be p****d too. I say congratulations to you regardless! If someone says anything else to you, you could share your honest feelings with them, since they have taken such liberties with you. (So if your honest feelings are at the moment to tell them to go ski into a tree, then by all...

Maggie and her beautiful new girl!

This is all too funny, Maggie will have a chuckle when she returns. So no one really knows what she is having?

Do you/did you let your baby cry to sleep?

I'm also not advocating that you make your baby miserable and scream in order to go to sleep. I would never do that either. And I don't agree with the "spoiling your baby" thing. Your baby needs love and it is so annoying when people call that "spoiling." But if all your baby does is fuss...
