Does anyone still use FIRM videos?

DB1 I'm with you! Even though I haven't used my FIRMs much, I can't bear to get rid of them. However, now that I have almost all of Cathe's videos, plus all the old FIRMs, I'm needing some shelf space. I think I'm going to try to cull out some that I rarely did, even when I was using the FIRM...

What's the High Step Challenge strategy?

Thanks, Cathe! I appreciate your responding, and the info was helpful. This workout is challenging and fun, and the variety certainly keeps us hopping (literally!) I'm glad to know some of the goals behind it now. I'm excited that your new videos include a circuit!

What's the High Step Challenge strategy?

Cathe, I love this workout--I love circuit workouts!--but this one puzzles me. Usually you use a strategy of working each muscle to exhaustion. Even Cardio & Weights does this, inserting one upper-body muscle group between each segment of cardio. In HSC, we work a muscle group, move on, and...

Does anyone still use FIRM videos?

I'm just curious. I own almost all the older FIRM videos (before GT took over) and used almost only FIRM before I found Cathe. I had an exercise drop-off for a couple months and decided to try a couple of my FIRM videos to ease back into things. Even my hardest FIRM videos are easy compared...

Cathe, what can I do to strengthen neck muscles?

Marie, I have had the same problem you described and tried the method that Cathe outlined for you. It has worked for me, though I'm still in progress. In the past, I couldn't do ANY work without supporting my head. By using the gradually increasing increments that she suggests, I have worked...

    Those leg thingies

These make my knees hurt, too. I have assumed it was part of the whole stability ball thing where it calls in other muscles that aren't specifically being worked in order to stabilize your body for the work that is being done in that exercise. But I don't know. Sorry. No advice. Just sympathy!

    Help!

Thanks gals for excellent advice. Laurie, what you said really resonates with me! I keep thinking of what I "should" do, and that's not motivating me. However, I think that picking my fun and favorite workouts would be motivating. The ones that make me in a good mood to do them. Actually...

    Help!

Several different stressful events converged in the last several months to totally disrupt my schedule. I have all but stopped exercising and have only gazed longingly from a distance at my collection of Cathe videos while situations beyond my control consumed my time. Now I'm ready to dive...

    Aerobics Shoes

I have another shoe question. I do my Cathe workouts in running shoes. I used to use cross trainers, but those were just too heavy, too stiff in the upper, and not enough cushion on the bottom. I have bought running shoes because they were the lightest shoes on the market and also had a lot of...

    Qu about low ends

    >> I mean, somehow the >>gals behind Cathe can do them and smile! > >I think they've trained themselvers to grit their teeth >prettily! LOL! OK. I used this as my strategy for Muscle Endurance a couple days ago. I pretended the smiles were just a cover for a grimace and then I said, "If...

Former Firmer, new to Cathe workouts

Cindylou, I'm a former firmer, too, and switched to Cathe because the Firm was no longer intense enough for me (hence the name cathe-convert). I think you've been given lots of good advice. Cardio Hits DVD is good for learning choreography because Cathe's newer workouts sometimes assume...

    Qu about low ends

OK. Unfortunately, it's sounding like "will power" is the key to low ends.x( That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping there was a way to ramp up to them without the sheer agony that they currently produce. I mean, somehow the gals behind Cathe can do them and smile! I was hoping there was a...

    Qu about low ends

I have another question about low ends: despite improved muscle strength on other leg exercises, I seem to plateau on low ends. How can I move past this? On a video like PS or Pyramids I can really tack on the weight, using the same amount as you and the gals on the video with you. However...

    Sept Rotation: Butts & Guts

Thanks again, Cathe! You know, several years ago, when I had just started your workouts (I was "converted from the Firm, hence my "Cathe-Convert" name) I would've passed out at your quote, "This is not a heavy weight rotation." However, after several years with you, I have a whole new...

    Sept Rotation: Butts & Guts

Thanks, Cathe. Your reply was helpful! (And I feel honored to have received a direct reply. As you can see, I'm new to this forum. But not new to Cathe!) I'm a "rule follower" and so I've always been really strict about not working muscle groups back to back, since I've heard you're not...

    Sept Rotation: Butts & Guts

I have a question. I notice that in week 2 that Pyramid lower body is put back to back with Muscle Max. I know that muscles need 48 hours to recover between heavy weight work, so why is this OK?

Do you go over 40# on legwork?

I only wish I could go over 40#!! While I can often keep up with Cathe on arm weights, I am trembling with only half of what she's got on her shoulders during legwork, especially during static lunges. Yikes!!! I have dreams of hoisting 40# some day for legwork. How do I get there? I keep...
