    Heart Rate Recommdation

The ACOG abandoned heartrate as a measure for pregnant women years and years ago, but you still seel the guidelines out their (particularly, the not above 140 thing... probably still out there because AFAA has kept that number in their prenata workshops -- sigh ). The ACOG recommends perceived...

Moms: when did you get your period back?

not yet... 9 mos. later! Robby will be 9 mos. in a couple of days, and I haven't had a period yet. I am still nursing about 5 times a day even though he's on finger foods now. I'm also on a progesterone only pill, so that may be why I haven't had a period yet. I weaned my first son from BF...

    Post-partum c-section moms check-in

Even before my c-section, and no matter how lean I am, I always have a slightly poochy tummy... I am almost 9 mos. postpartum from a c-section birth, and I don't think my abdominal area is very much different than before (other than the scar). I do pilates, stability ball work, and crunches...

    pelvic floor muscle - discomfort?

I had this type of pain in my cervical area with my last pregnancy -- my OB said that it was the baby's location and perhaps him kicking me. Keep up the kegels... :) Susan

    sciatica

Since it's a nerve pinch, there's not really a great *cure* per se ... at least not in the way that you can stretch out a muscle... but you can sometimes relieve the pressure and give yourself a little relief... and sometimes it just sort of relieves itself as the baby settles in a new position...

Should I disregard advice from LPN?

great post, Sheila... ... I'm going to copy it to give to the moms in my prenatal exercise class! I also find that many of my moms in class have been told by LPNs and OBs alike not to get their heartrates over 140 BPM, too... and that is such old information. The ACOG changed that...

    scheduled C-section

p.s. Start now doubling up recipes & freezing half when you make meals... I did that prior to both of my sons' births, and I was so glad that I had those meals to just heat up instead of having to cook from scratch! Those plastic-looking disposable baking containers from Reynolds worked great...

    scheduled C-section

I just submitted an article for Pregnancy Magazine (will be in the April issue, I think) on c-section recovery!! I think that c-sections are pretty different for different women, but even if you feel raring to go, you should take it easy for a few weeks to avoid adhesions. It truly does take 5...

Bad news yesterday and I'm devasted

the risk of miscarriage w/ amnio... Shanda, First, I'd like to send you a big hug to you and that sweet baby inside of you. I am so sorry that your OB was insensitive -- There are many, many stories about things not being as they seem in an ultrasound... my sister just had her 3rd baby, a...

    nursing bra question

Oh... and if you get a bigger bra before the baby arrives, remember that your ribcage will not be bigger, just your cup size ... so don't get a bigger #... just a bigger cup size. Susan
