    Menopause & Lifting Heavy-Max 8 Reps

And then you have Dr Vonda Wright saying four reps is the ideal range for our demographic Personally, I choose rep range based on the exercise. If it’s deadlifts, I’ll be sticking to 5-7 reps. If I’m doing Bulgarian split squats or bicep curls, it might be 10-12. I never approach a workout...

    Unsubscribed from e-newsletter

I’m relieved someone finally came out and said it. I haven’t unsubscribed… yet. I’ll wait and see if there’s a response

    Is STS fun?

When the series was first released, Mesocycle 1 was my least favorite. I wanted the longer rests and heavier weights of the other two cycles. Recently, I’ve been cycling through Mesocycle 1, and really enjoying it as a change of pace. I also am liking how body parts are split in this one

    What's your favorite step workout?

Overall, for me, it’s Cardio &Weights. Just the right combination of fun factor and complexity. Production-wise, it’s IMAX 2. Great music that makes you want move and “jump higher” I’ll confess, though, this morning it was Karen Voight’s Energy Sprint. My feet are not as fast as they used to...

    Cathe’s Weightlifting Gloves

I’ve become a fan of Pearl Izumi cycling gloves. There is light padding in just the right spots if you experience pain between the thumb and wrist

Anyone finds it challenging to keep pace with Cathe & the crew on X10 Cardio Blast Burpees?

Andrew Huberman’s most recent podcast highlights the benefits of skipping, which made me want to pull out Cardio Kicks for that one little ( but fun) sequence where she does that. For now, I stick with Afterburn when I want to up the intensity, as I find it easier to control with the way it’s...

    Bosu

YouTube is probably the quickest way of discovering its many uses. My two personal favorites are as a replacement for the step bench on hip thrusts (it’s a cross between a glute bridge and hip thrusts), and a substitute for balance discs

Strength vs. Power: Why Your Workout Needs Both for Lifelong Fitness

I really like the ones she did later on… Signature Series and Grand Total 2&3

Strength vs. Power: Why Your Workout Needs Both for Lifelong Fitness

My knees are “old” but relatively healthy, so I sprinkle in plyometrics for bone health. The LIFTMOR studies are really interesting in this regard. I also thought Tracie Long did a great job in her workouts of putting in just the right amount without injury or overkill

    Calves have become large

There’s a huge genetic component with calves. I made peace with mine as I got older. I feel like they help out my ankles and decrease my fall risk

    Leg Day?

I don’t do as many dedicated “lower body only” workouts as I used to. If I feel like I need some more attention down there, I will either do an abbreviated version of STS 2.0 LB1 (hip thrusts!) or P90X Legs & Back - I can work on (assisted) pullups, and throw in some functional leg work, too

    Workout shoe recommendations

A wide toe box is an absolute must for me. I like Altra’s for workouts and general use, and switching to Pearl Izumi X-Alp shoes completely transformed my cycling experience

I’m Excited to Announce My Newest Series

I’m thrilled with the concept of the series, but unless Elon grants us all free Starlink, I need DVDs

    Spin Bike Recommendations

I bought it through Amazon. My hubby was able to assemble it quickly. I ride 2-3 times a week. The only problem I ever had with it was when it was delivered. The entrance to my house is on the second level, and the poor UPS driver let me help him roll it up the stairs

    Spin Bike Recommendations

The Joroto X2 from Amazon doesn’t get a whole lot of love, but mine has served me well for several years. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another
