Rhonda Davis |
Two years ago I moved from N.J. to Americus, GA. with my husband Barry, daughter Mandi, and Black Lab Daytona. I have an undergraduate teaching degree from Rowan University in Health and Exercise Science, and am currently finishing up my graduate work for a Master Degree in Nutrition, Exercise and Human Performance at GSW University. I am the Wellness Director at Southwest Ga. Fitness Center and teach a variety of group exercise classes there. I have certifications in group instruction, kickboxing, yoga, spinning, body pump, and personal training through both ACE and AFAA. I started my fitness career at Four Seasons, under Cathe's suggestion back in 1991, and have been promoting fitness and wellness since then. I was teaching 9th &10th grade Health and Physical Education for 8 years before moving to Ga. Since living in Ga, I have become more involved with the local community and speaking for various health organizations on wellness topics. In the near future I plan to write fitness tips for the local paper in Americus, and continue my professional goals of traveling across SW Ga., to promote current health information to the community. |

To keep in shape, I teach 6 group instruction classes per week. Body Pump(60 min.), Step Aerobics(45 min.), Bootcamp(90 min.), Yoga(120 min.), Off Day, ALL about Abs and Back(20 min.) followed by the Bottoms Up Class(30 min.), finishing the week with Spinning(45 min.). I enjoy this schedule since it provides good diversity. I also try to incorporate my own strength training program in-between training clients. This usually consists of training only one body part per day, one time per week - heavy. After a year of training this way, I feel my body recovers more efficiently and I can get up in the morning without feeling any over training effects, thus allowing me to keep up with my teaching demands. As far as nutrition, I follow the food guide pyramid because fuel is essential for my busy schedule which starts at 5:30 am, with a few hours break, then continues until 8:30 pm. My daily caloric intake is about 2500 with 55% coming from High Fiber Carbs sources like wheat breads, pastas & cereals, fruits & vegetable, 25% from lean protein like chicken & soy products, & occasionally fish, and 20 % from healthy fats like nuts (I love peanut butter), flaxseeds/oil(every night on salad), olive & canola oils. Every Sunday I eat whatever I want in moderation. Thursday afternoons are special lunch dates with my husband at the local restaurant where everything on the menu is yummy but not healthy, except maybe the wheat crackers and water but "You Only Live Once!" |
