| I'll start with the basics. I'm 33 years old, 5'2", and
don't have children just yet. My husband Dominick and I own and operate a
seafood restaurant together. If you own Cathe's boot camp workout, he is the
handsome "recruit" who is "stationed" behind the lovely Loraine. I exercise approximately 5-6 times a week including two cardio kickboxing classes I teach a week. I enjoy circuit style workouts that challenge my muscles and cardiovascular system together. Over the past year I have become more focused on increasing strength in my upper body/core and gaining endurance in my lower body. Since the "slow heavy series' last year, I have been using that technique to break strength plateaus for my upper body. I have also strengthened my core since this lifting style often requires you to brace your core for a long time. For my lower body I like doing activities that make my legs feel longer and leaner as opposed to thicker. My favorites are plyometrics, cardio kickboxing and running. I have also been working with an athletic trainer for the past year who has taught me a lot tying together my upper and lower body training. Most of my workouts end with core work incorporating medicine or stability ball. The ball work has helped me feel those muscles better and so now my ab work is more productive than it used to be. My biggest challenge is a four letter work, diet. I love to pick and I love sweets; if only they would love me back! I try not to get fancy with my eating habits. I just try to eat four to five small meal a day rather than three large ones. That combined with watching my intake of sugary or processed foods keeps my energy level more constant and dampens my cravings. When I do cheat I don't sweat it. (no pun intended) I just consider it "carbing up" for an extra challenging workout the next day. |

Getting ready for the Intensity Series was interesting. Just before rehearsals started I was at a plateau in terms of loosing the last five pounds towards my own personal goal. I had accepted that I probably was not going to get there any time soon. Well, I was wrong. I finally reached that goal without consciously thinking about. The variety of new workouts must have really shocked my metabolism. I guess that is why it is called the Intensity Series. Just wait until you try it. Thanks again Cathe for motivating me to get in better shape and for the always fun and challenging workouts. |
